I think this is a duck chick (one of the fifteen from that litter) swimming but keeping an eye in me...

Eastern Dwarf Frog (Litoria Falax) on Lotus Flower. Yes, the frog is real :)

Croham Hurst on a glorious winter morning..

A little bird whispered to me that I'm on vacation from now on. It was this little young great tit that just a short time before had eyed me so attentively.

Due to the sudden onset of winter in Slovakia, with minus 15 degrees and 10 cm of fresh snow in one night, my holiday planning has changed significantly. Instead of going to the High Tatras, I'm starting twards Tuscany tomorrow morning. I have nothing prepared and absolutely no plan but I think I'll find something down there. I'll catch up on the tour to Slovakia in the fall.

Over the years I've owned many cameras, some have become favourites, others not so much. Recently I uncovered my Pentax K-01 languishing at the back of a cupboard, an expensive piece of kit that I never really liked. I charged up the battery and today put it to work. It was raining when I pointed it at this Galah who seemed to share my reservations about the camera. I'll keep an open mind while I renew my acquaintance with the mirrorless Pentax.

A final image before they decided to move to safer surroundings.

Shelly-Ann recognising that beautiful black tail.

It belongs to her mother Ziva.

This momma moose is living on the edge of suburbia, and contends with people and traffic on a regular basis. There was a younger moose a bit of a distance off, so I'm guessing it was in recently kicked "out of the house". I heard a moose in the area had twins, perhaps this one. BTW, this moose walked by me as I was walking along the same path. I gave right of way. The car in the BG was on Ray Gibbons Drive.

Hokkaido snow defences. These were far more challenging to photograph than I had expected both compositionally and conditions wise due to the persistent lack of cloud cover. Lots patience required.

Fox Squirrel, Sciurus niger, on my roof, taking a dim view of my kitchen window photography. The blind is pulled part way down--she can't see me directly. With the flip screen out and the camera held at knee level, I can see her clearly.

Happy Mono Monday!

Heidi is aware that her human is plotting something, and she's not happy. She loves change in nice little servings, but hates the whole picture changing. So while I'm moving to another place she's staying with my parents. She's used to stay there when I'm on vacation, and from what I hear they keep each other busy.

Isn't it amazing how a superb model can change a portrait into a poem?

With new each image I will mention one of my very favorite Flicker photographers. These are not in any order except for chronologically - how could one possibly rank such different artists?

(13) Jennifer Rhoades - From the first time I discovered Jennifer's work I was in awe at the range of emotions and poetry she brilliantly projects.

Colour re-edit of a shot from April 2015. Enjoy!

A female Red-bellied Woodpecker looks around suspiciously before she ducks into her nest and care of the young inside. It's particularly important with her nest so close to the Red-shouldered Hawk nest.

I had the lyrics Caught in a trap going through my head when I chose this photo this morning. Sadly it's actually called suspicious minds, and my playlist version is by Fine Young Cannibals. I'm off to spend the weekend with my daughter's family in Devon this weekend, so I thought I'd post something different. This is from Dungeness which is just a dream for me , as I love dramatic places, and wooden boats. How could I not have fun and get caught in it's trap.

Previously unpublished shot from March 2018. On a day where you are shooting some great street photography and getting nice reactions from people, it pulls your confidence to take maybe a few more shots than you ordinarily would and you end up capturing a few more sceptical expressions. It's still amazing how much a genuine smile after the fact can diffuse any perceived misgivings. Enjoy!

The suspicious trio watched me carefully as I approached them. The grandma and mom are very protective. They are inseparable always together. The baby stepped forward to spy and they nudged him back behind them. Smart and curious I enjoyed watching them.
