I want to be like a sunflower, so that even on the darkest days I will stand tall and find the sunlight.
On my travels today was a happy field of sunflowers...............
Sunflowers are from my wife's rock garden and the butterflies are mine :) We have always admired the large sunflowers and we are hoping to get some seeds for eating if butterflies don't eat them all :) This is our first attempt to grow some. Picture taken in our backyard. I don't do too many flower and insect macros but just had to take one for my wife :)

Hello everyone,
It's Wannabe Warmer Wednesday, so what could be warmer than finding a group of sunflowers on a hot summer's morning?! WWW!

A planned photo excursion turned out to be a flop. Disappointed, I made my way home. Then I discovered a wasteland full of sunflowers and white flowers that I didn't know between two sections of the motorway. It was not at all easy to find access to the wasteland - but thank God there is a navigation system in the car!!

Apparently there was a new game in the backyard today when I was out with the birds - "How close can you fly to the guy with the camera without hitting him." The win went to one of our Titmice heading towards the feeder, about a foot over my head. I could feel the moving air from his wings. Close second for one of the nuthatches that zoomed by, carrying a sunflower seed, right past my knee.
Photos from today, any time I can hang out in the yard in January, wearing shorts, it a pretty good day. Angier, NC. 1.10.2021

Not so long ago, the garden in which these Sunflowers are growing, was bare earth. This was the result of clearing work, after the house was sold. Prior to that, the corner block and house were an eyesore. Now it is a joy to view every time I walk or drive past. Well done to the new occupants, as the house had been renovated to perfection also.
