The bears moving over to the ninth hole to watch our finish and to get a better view of my drive. Taking the kids to their first golf tournament is exciting for these youngsters. I expect i will be asked to sign their golf hats when i finish.
Safest place on this course for bears is on the green. The sand traps on the other hand have a lot of activity.

This is the scene one gets once they clear the canopy on the way to Summerland, (an amazing campsite on the Wonderland Trail with an incredible view of Rainier) and if I'm not mistaken it's on the other side of that peak but you have to go around to get there. Anyway, the plan was to take the Wonderland all the way to Indian bar, but when I started climbing Panhandle Gap up there, visibility was zero so I had to save that for another day. The view (which appeared for about an hour) in comments.

This 15-acre heritage botanical garden in the Okanagan Valley is nearly 100 years old and features a vast collection of perennial and annual flowers, mature trees, grasses and shrubs.
as taken from the Little Giants Head Hike. I like how the undulations of the land are visible in the density of the orchard trees. Reminds me of the large Starling flocks

Taking it easy at the very top of the mountain away from the photo buffs on the bottom. I'm kind of hoping they run out of food up there as comfortable as they seem so that I can get a more accessible pose. I know it's not a priority with them but you'd think they'd consider me for a change after all the time i've spent with them, i'm like family.0

Family portrait. Hopefully in the next few weeks mom will bring the new family down to the bottom of the mountain to meet the press.
I have a handful of what I think are amazing shots of my favorite mountain from here, I opted for the tight shot for now. this was taken as I was leaving and before I got to the climb down the mountain was gone, it's just that fast up there.
The moniker Summerland came to be in 1886 when Major Edward
S.Ingraham noted how beautiful the flowers were here on the Eastern meadow in the summer months, I was too late for the blooms, but (dang) the peaks were amazing. :-)
I am concerned about the weather, but I'm thinking of retrying Summerland to Ohanapecosh Park in the morning if anyone is interested in going. We are running out of time for the year here. (working this weekend again)
........near Summerland. Because of the perpetual slide, this area continues to have issues with anything associated with the ground. For instance, foundation walls and water mains are often affected. In this case, the large water main was compromised sending water and debris down the bank towards Trout Creek rendering the area even more unstable than it already was.
a mama bear and her three young 'uns show up at our Monday afternoon golf game to cheer us on. This was the ONE time in the whole summer that i did NOT bring my camera and i can't believe i had to bring out my cell phone to take this photograph of the family. First time i have seen such a large family of black bears.
Excuse the quality -- i hate cell phone photos.
Another older one from a trip to Summerland about 9 years ago. As I recall, I had to use high ISO/shutter speed because the flowers were blowing around a lot.
Mt. Rainier Nat'l Park, WA
More shots of the slide we explored on our hike. This green vegetation was unique to this small area and might be an indication of some heated ground water. Nowhere else in the entire area had this sort of growth. Other pools of water had ice on them.
