The Suicide Point is located on the road connecting Kalpa with Roghi. The surroundings of this point are so amazing that people are forced to call it as the Suicide Point. The dangerous trench and vertical slopes are the highlights of this place.
A quick edit from last night's spooky, foggy drive through teh tiny coastal country lanes of North Devon in an attempt to capture the combination of last light and heavy sea mist that had looked most inviting from the study window! The title is from the track playing while taking the hair pin bend on the highest cliff section that crazily does not have a crash barrier!

On the 12th of May, 1943, Szmul Zygielbojm committed suicide. Szmul was a member of the Polish Government in Exile. Being in London, he was aware of the Warsaw Ghetto and also of the Jewish resistance movement there with its tunnels and bunkers. This resistance was crushed by the Nazis and the Ghetto was stripped of its Jewish inmates. Szmul's farewell note contains this paragraph:
"I cannot continue to live and to be silent while the remnants of Polish Jewry, whose representative I am, are being murdered. My comrades in the Warsaw Ghetto fell with arms in their hands in the last heroic battle. I was not permitted to fall like them, together with them, but I belong with them, to their mass grave. By my death, I wish to give expression to my most profound protest against the inaction in which the world watches and permits the destruction of the Jewish people."

We called these knobs "suicide knobs" back in the day. They clamped on the steering wheel and made it easy to steer cars and trucks before the days of power steering, but made them difficult to control in emergencies. That is how they got their name, but they had lots of other names too - Brodie knob, knuckle buster, granny knob, necker's knob, and wheel spinner. This one was in an old Studebaker pickup truck.
