First of a series of 8 in a set that takes exclusively Pano-Sabotage imagery into extreme mirroring.
The visual complexity of the foliage and branches of the mostly natural elements, along with the complex mirror shapes makes for a very ornate statements in this series. At this time of year I seem to often end up doing things that are purely or largely abstract. I also wanted to take, what I call, "X-Stream Mirroring" as far as I could go ( for now ). The results made my think of the complex brocades that frame Tibetan Buddhist Thangka paintings. Hence the "Brocade" name.
It's always been my goal to take Pano-Sabotage as far into art making as I can. I love visually complex work and thought I'd "pull out the stops" for this series. Following these 8 it's likely that I'll go in completely the opposite direction, exploring Pano-Sabotage in extremely simple forms.

Filou in seinem Körbchen - Filou in his basket
Filou ist in seinem zehnten Jahr bei uns und ein voll kommendes Familienmitglied. Er war und wird auch immer ein treuer Begleiter für uns sein, der auf uns aufpasste und noch aufpassen möchte.
Lächerliche 17 Tage war er in diesen Jahren bei meiner Schwester in Urlaubspflege, sonst immer bei uns. Reisen im Flugzeug wollten wir ihm ersparen. Dafür mussten wir viele Kilometer mit dem Auto zurücklegen, er war und ist es uns Wert.
Hier ist der Haken an dieser kleinen Geschichte … er kann nicht mehr wie er möchte. Seine Arthrose macht sich immer stärker bemerkbar, Bilder mit Filou in Aktion sind schon seit Jahren nicht mehr machbar.
Es wird für uns Zeit unseren treuen Begleiter zu beschützen und vielmehr vor sich selber zu schützen, er möchte uns imponieren, kann es aber leider nicht mehr und bricht von schmerzen geplagt zusammen wie ein kleiner Welpe der müde ist.
Wir werden ihn beschützen und schützen … versprochen …
Filou is in his tenth year with us and is a full-fledged member of the family. He was and will always be a loyal companion for us, who looked after us and still wants to look after us.
During these years he was with my sister for a ridiculous 17 days in holiday care, otherwise he was always with us. We wanted to spare him from travelling by plane. To do this we had to travel many kilometres by car, he was and is worth it to us.
Here is the catch in this little story... he can no longer do what he wants. His arthritis is becoming more and more noticeable, and we have not been able to take pictures of Filou in action for years.
It is time for us to protect our loyal companion and, more importantly, to protect him from himself. He wants to impress us, but unfortunately can no longer do so and collapses in pain like a little puppy who is tired.
We will protect and protect him... promise...

There is one wall in Swansea where it's legal to make spray art, and this is it. I came across this young man making a very big statement across the length of it. It faces a car park. Well done!

Artist Statement: Vancouver’s residents often find themselves longing for the warm respite of those few summer weeks when the sun burns through the clouds and turns everything into gold. This mural is a celebration of those magical days that glow hot and allow us to experience the best our city has to offer while leaving those wet winter months behind. With the whimsical interpretation of a figure reclining among an abundance of foliage I aimed to create a sense of simplicity, joy and leisure that can be appreciated year-round. After all, warmer weather is always just around the corner and the simple pleasures of summer aren’t far from reach.
Déclaration de l'artiste : Les résidents de Vancouver ont souvent envie de profiter du répit chaleureux de ces quelques semaines d'été où le soleil brûle à travers les nuages et transforme tout en or. Cette murale est une célébration de ces jours magiques qui brillent de chaleur et nous permettent de découvrir le meilleur de notre ville tout en laissant derrière nous ces mois d'hiver humides. Avec l'interprétation fantaisiste d'une figure allongée parmi une abondance de feuillage, j'ai voulu créer un sentiment de simplicité, de joie et de loisirs qui peut être apprécié toute l'année.
