This started off as an underexposed snap (to keep the detail in the sky) from a walk with the family using the old 5D mark III. It was unusable until recently because of the noise when upping the exposure. I have to say that the new noise reduction feature in Lightroom has done a great job.

This is the Old Man of Storr on Skye which forms part of the Trotternish ridge; a landslip resulting in some dramatic scenery like this and the Quiraing further up the road.

Had my first ever trip to Skye last week. What a beautiful place!

Lucked out with the conditions and crammed a just ridiculous amount of time shooting all round the island. This is likely to be first of several uploads from the trip and is a view looking over Loch Fada towards the Storr with the Old Man silhouetted against the brightening sky.

If you fancy yourself a bit of a landscape photographer and you haven't been yet, then add it to your to do list.

This was buried in my hard drive, a picture from a few weeks ago. I must have got carried away with other things!!!

A drone shot of the stacks of Storr in Skye.

Up at 4.30am to climb up here to catch the sunrise. I really should have done this in the winter when the sun rises much much later!! Was worth it though - I was the only person here and the sunrise was beautiful.

An early evening walk up to the Old Man of Storr, Isle of Skye

The old Man of Storr is dwarfed by the cliff that looms up behind it. I've not seen many photos which include the cliff from this angle but I thought it gave a different impression of the place.

The 'Old man' himself (the pinnacle on the far left) is a 160 ft high monolith of basalt.

View On Black

A sudden shower of hail on Loch Fada almost blanking out the Storr.

Dendrocopus major.

Female.

Great spotted woodpecker.

Looking back to last years shots from Skye and I came across this slightly different composition from the Storr. I love the light bursting through. I'm excited to venture back up there next weekend, do you have any top spots I should check out?

Back in the summer. It's really very difficult to work out when you've got this landscape correctly horizontal, but I think I've got it right...

Autumn 'Roid Week 2018 day 3, picture 1.

Old Man of Storr is situated in the north of the Isle of Skye in the Trotternish area

Looking out towards Rona from Storr.

It was great whilst the sun lasted and before the hordes arrived.

Shot while driving from Portree to Lealt Falls, during the road trip around Scotland. Old man of Storr can be seen in the far right. The Storr is a rocky hill on the Trotternish peninsula of the Isle of Skye.

Waterfall near the Storr, Isle of Skye.

It was typical Skye weather - all four seasons in a single day. We had sun, rain, sleet, hail and lots of wind - in other words: perfect photographic weather with ever-changing light. The only problem here was a car load of tourists who wanted to take snaps of each other in various poses right in my field of view. However, they buggered off pretty sharpish when the ladies in the party realised that high heeled shoes were not necessarily the best choice of footware for waterlogged, sloppy peat. Words fail me sometimes .....
