A view into the handsome mahogany flavors and vaulted ceilings of Southside Mall in Oneonta, NY. The college "city of the hills" hosts its only mall shortly off the scenic I-88, with its closest competition approximately 65 miles in any direction is an indicator as to how its keeping afloat amid empty storefronts and vacating chains like f.y.e.

A Books-A-Million and Sports Obsession Store vie for shoppers' attention at the well-kept Millcreek Mall Complex. There are also some coin-op rides for the kiddiewinks...

My guess is that one building was once the post office/general store and the other housed a restaurant in Turkey, North Carolina in Sampson County on Union Road.

Description: View looking southwest along South Archer Avenue. The intersection with South Richmond Street is in the foreground at left. The intersection with South Sacramento Avenue is in the middle distance. A large Standard Federal Savings bank is at the right. Stores and other small businesses line both sides of the street. A small sign suspended from the light post at the far right of the photograph reads "Welcome to Brighton Park."

The merchandise pick-up area

Former Sears department store - 216,252 square feet - Built 1971

The Summit Place Mall opened in 1963 originally under the name "Pontiac Mall". Hudson's and Montgomery Ward were original anchor stores. In 1971, a free-standing Sears store was built north of the mall. In the late 1980s, JCPenney and MainStreet (later Kohl's) were added as part of a wing built between Montgomery Ward and Sears. Massive shopping centers owned by the mall (Summit West and Summit North) were built around the mall in the 1980s and 1990s, A Service Merchandise store also used some space at the mall that Hudson's split-off.

The nearby Great Lakes Crossing outlet mall opened in 1998. Both Montgomery Ward and Service Merchandise closed at the brink of the 2000s. Throughout the 2000s many smaller stores left the mall. Also during that time Hudson's changed to Marshall Field's, then Macy's. Kohl's closed their store in March 2009, The mall itself was closed in September 2009. Following the mall's closure, Macy's and JCPenney both left in March 2010. Sears closed in December 2014. The 1,500,000 square foot mall building has been condemned so it is likely the mall will be demolished within the next year or two.

The National on Jungermann road in St. Louis has sat almost untouched for 20 years since it closed in 1995. It's now a discount furniture store, but many parts of the old National remain in-tact, as if it were to re-open tomorrow.

A pair of fishing stores in the community of Port Rexton, Newfoundland. These traditional stores or stages, used to store fishing equipment are still a common site throughout the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, and many are quite old, being kept up through generations. This red ochre type paint is the predominant colour of these buildings, although I`m not sure why.

Once booming business town near Lexington Market Area.

North Duke Mall was an enclosed mall built in 1974 anchored by Roses and Winn Dixie (now Staples). Roses had an exterior entrance as well as a mall entrance. My memories of the mall in the '90s were a mixture of local/regional chains with a few national chains thrown in for good measure. Please note I don't ever remember this being an exciting place to hang out lol. The stores I remember going into from this era are Piece Goods, Kerr Drug, a Mayberry Ice Cream Shop and a used book store. As the '90s went on the vacancy rate rose, and around 2000ish the center was demalled and renamed North Duke Crossing. Today the interior is used for offices, I recall maybe 10 years back going inside and it looked like a typical office hallway except for a central area where they had kept a bench/planter area surrounded by old mall tiles under the skylight. I attempted going back inside today only to find a keyed code required. This Roses was actually one of the larger in the chain and I believe was considered a flagship but now it's pretty much typical Roses inside. Here are some pics of the center today, note that you can still see the old mall entrance inside Roses, and I also threw in a pic of the old Blockbuster in the parking lot.

The Belle and Gaston Doll Set. LE 6000, $129.95. It will be released in stores in North America on Tuesday September 20, 2016, and online at 12:01 am PDT September 20.

I took some photos of the display of the DFDC doll sets at my local Disney Store today (Thursday September 1, 2016). They were put on high shelves in the same section as the Art of Belle merchandise. It wasn't very impressive, especially compared to previous years' displays. There were only four sets crammed onto a couple small shelves, the cover sleeves were missing, the promo placard was small, and there were no other merchandise. The lighting in the store wasn't the best, so some of the photos that I took had distracting reflections. Also for a few of photos I had to use flash to help illuminate darker areas and eliminate some of the reflections. The manager helped me place the sets on a lower level (on top of Classic doll boxes) so I could take photos at a better angle. I've already pre-ordered the full collection, but will also be entering the bi-weekly raffles to get the dolls in store, for deboxing.

At a flea market in Searsport, Me.

This is the view that made me start this project. It's in the centre of the city on a main thoroughfare near the Arndale centre. The top bit could easily be 1870, the lower bit could be 1970 - and it's all rather tired... Nevertheless, it's a wonderful view.
