6N40 Tees Yard to Skinningrove steel skirts the North Sea at Huntcliff in the charge of 66238.
This is the now freight only branch to Skinningrove and Boulby from Saltburn. Originally, the line carried passenger trains and ran right through to Whitby.
The line loops out towards the coast following the contours and the cliffs for about a quarter of a mile, those cliffs being around 300 feet above the sea and demonstrating some serious erosion and landslip. Thursday, 21.4.16

Here's a trick I haven't done in a while. Whilst outdoors set your White Balance to Tungsten. You'll get this instant blue filter !
I took this picture about two years ago with my smart phone. The site is a big open hall at a former coal mine and coking plant, that is now available for sightseeing. The editing should make it a good candidate for slider Sunday. So have a Happy Sliders Sunday everybody.

"Amateurs talk strategy, professionals talk logistics".
Whilst a lot of flashing images have been on peoples' telescreens of late, it is clear a lot of people have become armchair generals and sitting room diplomats.
However, physical reality determines what happens in the real world. Some countries ought to be doing certain things for sure but that is a world away from what is happening.
Recent events have shown some countries are stronger or weaker than hitherto imagined. Some alliances or power blocks will no doubt get a rude awakening.
If events are as portrayed, then realignments are inevitable and
access to raw materials will become key. To have such resources, global trade needs to continue as expected, or you need to have your own primary and secondary industries and have not mothballed them or sold them off to a country that no longer likes you.
Also, it is hard to be at war with a country upon whom you are resource-dependent for the next five years (conservative estimate).
PS. Having a look at Orwell's map for 1984 power blocks map is somewhat illuminating.

Ohio Central's ZVL job switches the Cleveland-Cliffs steel plant along the Muskingum River on the north side of Zanesville. A tattered ex-CSX Super 7 and a freshly-painted GP38-2 were the power this day.
Until now, I have not said much about what I do for a living. I work as a public affairs specialist for the U.S. government.
In this picture, employees at the Rock Island Arsenal Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center pour leftover steel into "scrap molds." They then clean the "ladle" for later use, a process that results in sparks. RIA-JMTC can make almost anything out of metal – from foundry to finished product. The metal was over 2700°F.

Just had to revisit this beautiful blue-hour scene from last month
with a little different crop and foreground. The silver/grey light
and calm reflections were really special... Thanks for looking
