“Steampunk is...a joyous fantasy of the past, allowing us to revel in a nostalgia for what never was. It is a literary playground for adventure, spectacle, drama, escapism and exploration. But most of all it is fun!”

― George Mann

Second Life is celebrating its 19th birthday! There's so much to see, do, and buy! Learn all about SL's history at The Tapestry of Time! See a show at The Steamworks, Vernian Rotunda, or The Arboretum! There's a hunt for cool gifts, a gift area, and the ginormous Shop & Hop.

I'm volunteering at the stages this year, it would be awesome to see you there!

You can start your adventure here!

For 1959, the Facel Vega HK500 was introduced. Essentially, it was just a renamed, upgraded FVS. Equipped at first with the 335 hp (246 kW) 5.8-litre V8 from the FVS, the HK500 soon received a 360 hp (265 kW) 6.3 litre Chrysler V8, giving it a top speed of 147 mph (237 km/h). It could accelerate from 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in 8.5 seconds. Initially, disc brakes were optional, becoming standard in April, 1960. The Facel Vega II replaced the HK500 in 1962, after 489 had been built. One was a specially made convertible. Total FV/HK production was 842, or 846 depending on the source

Replica of Southwold Railway no.3 on display at the society's Steamworks site, just outside the town. The locomotive arrived there this year having been constructed at North Bay engineering. It is painted in Great Eastern Railway blue livery, I learned from the volunteers there that the original locomotives did receive major overhauls at Stratford.
