This is at the Texas Ranger heritage center Fredericksburg,Texas.
I have had several friends that were Texas Rangers. That was my dream as a young man but life carried me into other careers.
Pauper statues (Finnish: vaivaisukko, Swedish: fattiggubbe) are alms boxes in the form of carved wooden statues on the outside walls of Lutheran churches in Finland and in Sweden. The statues represent poor and often disabled men or veterans begging for alms. The figures usually have a small metal box inside and a slot in the chest for inserting coins. They were used from the 17th to 19th century for collecting money for the poor.
Actually, there's a lot more statues of Buddha than 1000. Most of these huge caves are open to the weather, but the statues have survived since the 400s!
Beautiful angle statue at Frederiksberg Cemetery. It's a little bit forgotten and is falling apparat. It's placed on a family grave with the text "H. Baggers Familie Begravelse 1860".

I was completely surprised to see an image of this small statue posted by nedlugr. I had seen it many years ago in the very obscure Imusdale cemetery near Parkfield, CA. See Rick's image below.
