Taken on a cold and windy Sunday morning (today)
I went outside for a small walk, but the wind was so cold, that I soon returned home. I wasn't dressed warmly enough ;-(
It was by making photographs that I learned to be an artist. But as I learned to be an artist I grew away from photography.
one of my favorite quotes by Nathan Wagoner and the title is by "TV on the Radio - Staring at the Sun"
Check out my friend´s António VI stream and see not "making of" of this shot but of another yet to come. Ha! and for the record i did not ask to go up on the roof :))))i was invited to climb up there and it was a wonderful moment!! i love Antonio's shot! :))

i finally woke up from the nightmare i've been living these past few months.
the one where i've been constantly verbally and emotionally abused.
i have been called names - disrespectful, degrading, self worth - stripping names that i most especially did not deserve, nobody deserves to get beat up like that. i've been made to feel like i was not worth anything. again, nobody deserves that.
i am tired, and hurt, and angry.
but mostly with myself.
for allowing others to treat me the way they did.
for believing them, even for a few seconds.
for thinking that every apology was sincere and
things were not going to happen again.
those words, what they think of me - they do not define me. or who i am. i know my worth, and i know that i deserve to dream dreams, not nightmares.
so thank you, to all of you who bothered to read my crap.
just had to let it all out.
xoxo my dears.

Some herring gulls are enjoying a bit of winter warmth as they bask in the amber glow of the setting winter sun.

For those who were wondering what i was looking like, i post this pic. I'm not really good at self-portrait - one of the reason is that i still don't have any tripod. Santa didn't bring one to me this year ... so I'll wait. This pic was taken by a close friend of mine in september. I got the sun and the wind right in my face. I love those moments especially on the seashore.

"You're not the only one staring at the sun
Afraid of what you'd find if you stepped back inside.
I'm not sucking my thumb, staring at the sun
Not the only one who's happy to go blind."
Maybe, life is like a ride on the freeway
Dodging bullets while you're trying to find your way
Everyone's around, but no one does a damn thing
It brings me down, but I won't let them
If I seem bleak
Well, you'd be correct
And if I don't speak
It's 'cause I get disconnected
But I won't be burned by the reflection
Of the fire in your eyes
As you're staring at the sun
When I ran I didn't feel like a runaway.
When I escaped I didn't feel like I got away.
There's more to living than only surviving
Maybe I'm not there, but I'm still trying
Though you hear me
I don't think that you relate
My will is something
That you can't confiscate
So forgive me, but I won't be frustrated
By destruction in your eyes
As you're starin' at the sun
The Offspring
A bunch of us went camping this past weekend out in Arkansas on the Mulberry river. I love the wilderness and wish I could photograph it more. This was taken just after a quick rain ran through our camp site and we had gone down to the river to relax.
"you're staring at the sun
you're standing in the sea
your mouth is open wide
you're trying hard to breathe
the water's at your neck
there's lightning in your teeth
your body's over me...."
- TV On The Radio
'Staring At The Sun'
Staring at the sun
Afraid of what you'll find
If you took a look inside
Not just deaf and dumb
Staring at the sun
I'm not the only one
Who'd rather go blind
'Cause I am due for a miracle
I'm waiting for a sign
I'll stare straight into the sun
And I won't close my eyes
Till I understand or go blind (till I understand or go blind)
My pursuit of contre-jour excellence is relentlessly continuing. I want the glow...
The latest addition to the 'Essence' series.
Reached #278 in Explore.
Taken with an iPhone 3GS (CrossProcess app). After Emerson, my son, broke the Crayola Glow Dome, he and Morgan decided to pretend it was a space helmet. You'll notice she's doing specifically what I asked her not to do...stare at the sun.
