This is a small image of 7 smallpox vaccinations I had as a child as I trailed around under the care of my parents who worked, mostly, abroad from the UK.

The reason I titled this image 'There is Always Hope" is because vaccination against smallpox is no longer required. The disease is eradicated. I pray the same will happen in the future to Covid 19.

This stamp is used to making traditional bread (Slava cake) decoration for St. Nicholas Day, Serbian Orthodox Church.

The most important decoration of the Slava cake is a square-shaped seal (prosfornik seal) with a cross in the middle, among the arms of which is the inscription 'IS HS NI KA' (this inscription in Greek means "Jesus Christ wins").

There is a special wooden stamp for imprinting this sign (it is usually inherited from generation to generation and every house should have it.

This stamp at the photo is my and is 4x4cm in size.

In my first comment I will put a picture of the whole bread, so you can see what it looks like. Square-shaped seal is always in the midle of the Slava cake.

Macro Mondays

I can remember when, as a kid, I used to put postcards or postal enveloppes on top of a pan full of boiling water, so that I could detach the stamps without damaging them and collect them neatly in albums...

My collection is long gone (I've sold it for a ridiculously low price at a flea market in my teens), but I'm sometimes tempted again to put aside a few nice stamps. Maybe out of nostalgy.

For preparing this shot, I've started the process with a water boiler beforehand. Then for taking the picture I've been using the steam from an air humidifier, placed under the stamps.

This is one of the few shots with roughly the right amount of steam-induced blurriness but still enough crispness in the subject. 😊

I had bought these little tags and letter stamps a while ago from Dollarama and figured they would someday come in handy for a photo op. I am not a crafty person and my OCD is getting to me that the stamped words aren't spaced right; on the otherhand, I don't mind how it looks because it wasn't made in a factory by a machine...lol

REDUX 2022

I selected the fourth theme of the year 2022 "Stamp"

This macro is of a copper plate section worked in the mezzotint or «manera negra» etching style. The textures obtained on the plate are achieved with a tool called "berceau". The lights are obtained by means of friction tools such as scraper or burnisher

The width of the plate is just 3 inches.

Love those forever postal stamps, the price you pay is good forever and with stamps going up it is nice to have a few hundred laying around.

A Macro Mondays submission on the topic "Stamp". What better stamp to choose for this theme than this stamp honouring George Eastman, founder of Kodak, seen on a first day cover honoring his 100th birthday.

Patterned metal step from the platform down to the tracks just for tourists like me at the old Townsville Train Station. The tracks are no longer in use and just stop further along.
