One of the many pieces of stained glass from an exhibit on Navy Pier in Chicago. This display has a few hundred examples of stained glass that dates back to the mid 1800's. If you visit Chicago, it is a must see.

“Stained Glass Light” — Beams of colorful light from stained glass windows on the stone floor of the Eglise de Notre-Dame Des Victoire, Brussels.

First impressions on entering old European churches like the Eglise de Notre-Dame Des Victoire in Belgium focus on the architecture, the scale, and the quietness of these places. If you have some time to wander — and you should take that time if you visit them — smaller details start to emerge. Stained glass windows originally provoked me to look up at them, but later I learned to look down at the light they cast.

The first time I understood the projected light was during a late-afternoon visit to the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. The low angle of early evening light sent colorful beams of light everywhere. The effect was not quite as broadly spectacular at this smaller Brussels church, but its beauty still caught my attention.

I have no idea what kind of moth or butterfly this is -maybe someone out there can help me. The one thing I do know is that God makes so many gorgeous little creatures and since I have become involved with Flickr - I see so many everyday. Hope all of you have a wonderful Thursday :) ! ~

This Christmas I gave myself this stained-glass Puffin. Never actually seen a real Puffin, but photos and objects of Puffins always bring a smile to me. I like stained glass too, this is the first I've seen that is free standing. The background is looking right out the window, a nice snowing Christmas Eve day here! Made in East Yorkshire, England. Nice size too: 8"h, 6"w

HAPPY AND BLESSED NEW YEAR TO ALL IN 2022! :-)

Thank you for taking the time to view my photo, and for the faves and comments you make, thank you.

I tried to sum up the stained glass solutions I used in the past.

Left: nine Cheese, one 1x2 tile, two 1x1 Brick(or six 1x1 plates), two 1x2 plates

Middle Left: three Cheese, one 1x2 tile, one 1x2 plate

Middle right: four Cheese, one 1x1 brick (or three 1x1 plate), one 1xX plate

Right: two Cheese, one 1x1 Brick(or three 1x1 plates)

Use plates, to get an even more stained glass effect.

Of course, all the windows are slightly stressed. But it's in a takeable area, I never had any issues. Use on your own risk ;))...
