CSX 8902 whisks the usually reliable Q008 through the sweeping curve just east of Sidney, OH, leaving a plumb of fresh powder in its wake from a light dusting of snow the night prior.
With one of the harder to get ST70AH tier 4 EMD units on the point, CSX L303 slowly crawls into the siding at Howell with the last glow of sun warming the sky behind the train. The massive C&O era signal bridge is 1 of 3 C&O signal bridges that still stand.

CSX 8906, one of several ST70AH's undergoing testing up north this month, brings Q015 west alongside the very beginning of the Ohio River at Pittsburgh, PA, on Feb. 22, 2020. I've heard good reviews about these units from crews, but we will see how CSX feels about the units once testing is complete.

CSX O75130 heads north near Baker Spur (just north of Indiantown, FL) on the CSX Auburndale Subdivision with a fairly new, at the time, ST70AH leading.
O751 was an autorack turn job that ran from Winston to Palm Center then back to Winston. Palm center is located near Palm Beach and sees consistent auto shipments by rail daily (loads in, empties out). Unfortunately, this train only existed for a month or two until it was abolished and Q213 was created. The ST70AHs were common to see on this train due to its origin and destination of Winston, FL. The ST70s were based from there so there was always a good chance you would see one or even a pair.
CSXT ST70AH #8903 leads T209 west through the CMG 5.3 intermediates known as Calgod near Catlettsburg, KY.

You know...I kind of miss seeing these ST70's. They were cool. It's sad though it's dismantled in Georgia...
During my final day of railfanning in Ohio before moving to Greenland, I swung by the Toledo Sub one last time to chase any southbound passing these old B&O CPL's. CSX sent through Q141 with the ST70AH in the lead. It was a good chase, and a solid train to close out my time in Ohio.
On a pleasant and sunny Tuesday evening we see CSX train M371-21 dashing to Baltimore and points further west with CSX 8904 on point. This makes for the fifth (iirc) ST70AH i'Il have seen in the Baltimore area now.

CSX 8902 eases CP 644 downhill at Westminster and will soon have a crew change at St Paul for points easy. CSX has ten of these EMD ST70AHs in service and they look great, for a while they were restricted to only in running in Florida but now go all around the system and every once in a while we get to see one on a CP train.

CSX 8903 cuts through downtown Tipp City, OH with the day's southbound Q507. The horn was about the loudest thing on this unit. Given this train's high tonnage, these ST70AH's prime movers are very quiet. Impressive!
Stay healthy everyone.
CSX Q541 snakes through downtown Acworth, Georgia under some cloudy skies. In the lead is one of CSX's new ST70AH Tier 4 emission locomotives, which is heading back to Florida after testing on the northern part of the system.
A clapped out AC4400CW and a former CSX ST70AH now lettered as PRLX 8907 lead FXE's Intermodal Mexico-Mexicali up the hills at B-107.

Tepetitlan, Hidalgo.
New CSX ST70AH 8905 brings train E634 east at 60mph along route 224 near Lodi, Ohio, on March 2, 2020. Gotta say, it looks like a big rectangular chunk of scrap wood covered in random stickers and sounds like an air drier. But at least it's something different, and it's clean.
Not the shot or location I wanted, but it works. Q217-06 with CSX ST70AH 8900 rolls down the CSX Philadelphia sub in the early afternoon sun. Here they are going from the main to track one as the close in on Bayview yard in Baltimore, MD.
CSX 8900 is the class leader of the 10 EMD ST70AH locomotives that CSX purchased.
Near high noon brings a northbound manifest off the Greeley Subdivision as it prepares to enter Cheyenne, WY. Ironically, right behind the Tier 4 compliant ACe was a long string of loaded company coal cars, surely to much chagrin of many a Green New Deal advocate.
A pair of CSXT ST70AH Locomotives lead hotshot Intermodal Train Q026-12 north as they pass through Elkmont, AL.

07/06/2020 - Here is CSX 216-06 heading down Main Street on the CSX LCL Subdivision in La Grange, KY, with ST70AH 8900 leading the way as seen from my drone's perspective. There was a some rain that moved through the area and the clouds were very defined, which made the shots kind of difficult, I'm torn on how I like this one or not, regardless I was happy to catch the class unit leading.
Q561 rolls through Lockland with a ST70AH in lead down the NS Dayton District. This one of 10 ST70AH’s Csx has made for a nice run into Cincinnati that evening.

Westbound loaded ethanol train K622 eases to a stop ion the siding at CP Berry to wait for hot shot eastbound Q032 to clear before continuing on to Philadelphia. For a train with no foreign power, this one was followed pretty closely because of the EMD ST70AH leading.

One of CSX's ten EMD SD70ACe-T4s (classified as ST70AHs by CSX) leads Q326 over Buck Creek in Grandville. I'm glad to have finally caught one of these beasts leading!
