I guess I bought this in <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/aaronliao/4884354915/"August of 2010 and never got around to doing anything with it. I couldn't sleep last night, so I went into work and swapped this into my other work laptop (Dell Latitude D820) and did the whole network PXE boot thing and so now I have a fresh copy of Win7 Enterprise on the new SSD.
The Kingston's specs (for this series, at least) are fairly decent for the price - this drive was under $80 at time of purchase. It's no speed demon compared to say, the Intel X25-M, but definitely a big improvement over the drive it replaced in the photo (Seagate 7200.1 100gb).
Erica and I met at MDA Summer Camp a few years back! Her and Sequoia have been together for 1 yr now.
I love when she cocks her head! So cute!
Rizzo is one of our Susquehanna Service Dogs in training. She's just a little puppy and learning...but she's still very excited and full of puppy energy!
She is from the "Muppet" litter.
While trying to get creative with mounting the Intel 320 160gb SSD, I accidentally took it apart all the way.
More SSD. Now they come in blister packs. How mainstream. I'll benchmark this against my golden standard Intel X25-M G2 SSD soon...
These are on sale at Newegg for $100, which is a pretty awesome deal.
Taken with my iPhone 4.
Giving the circa late 2009 iMac a performance upgrade with a new 1 Tb SSD drive replacement and increasing ram to 16 Gb
In order to speed up the performance of my iMac I've put a Samsung 256GB SSD next to the HDD.
one of the smaller, thinner 1.8" form factor SSDs. this one is made by Samsung and is 128gb.
this is a replacement for a toshiba 1.8" 128gb SSD that suddenly blue screened and went bad. yum.
waiting on one more SSD to arrive in the mail (for my ThinkPad X41) and then...lets see...7 of my 9 laptops will be solid state machines. eventually i'll move the boot drives on my old P4 desktop (currently on WD Velociraptor 10krpm spinner), my 2008 R2 server, and my 24" iMac to SSD as well.
a kingston 64gb SSD drive on an asus 'ion' mini-itx system (dualcore atom330). this is on a win-xp (sp3) box that has no 'TRIM' support and the drive has been used and partitioned a few times, already. perhaps that dip halfway was due to my partitioning it? I have ubuntu linux 10.latest on the 2nd partition.
Product Description
Consistent 128GB SSD
A solid-state drive, or SSD, is a type of computer storage device. This non-volatile storage medium uses solid-state flash memory to store persistent data. Traditional hard disc drives (HDDs) are being replaced in computers by SSDs, which perform the same basic operations as a hard drive. SSDs, on the other hand, are substantially faster.
A typical hard drive is made up of a spinning disc and a read/write head mounted on a mechanical arm known as an actuator. A hard disc drive (HDD) uses magnetic technology to read and write data. The magnetic characteristics, on the other hand, can cause mechanical failures.
SSDs are frequently used by companies that operate with large volumes of data (such as programming environments or data analysis), as access times and file transfer rates are crucial
- SSD write cache is enabled, Low power consumption, Laptop and Desktop
- 2.5Inch,/SATA 6 Gb/s interface, ATA modes supported
- Sequential 128KB Read and Write speeds up to 540MB/s and 500MB/s respectively
- Boot up faster. Load files quicker. Improve overall system responsiveness
Gaming computers have always pushed the boundaries of current computing technology, necessitating the purchase of very expensive hardware for the sake of gaming performance. This is especially true in terms of storage.
