We woke up at 4am to photograph Bow Lake and after that decided to take the 3 hour drive to Jasper and over to Malinge Lake and Spirit Island. This was a must see for me and was well worth the precious $$ to get there and for the boat ride. Enjoy!! VLOG below..
A low perspective on Spirit Island and the box canyon it sits in at the south end of Maligne Lake.
Spiritual: relating to or affecting the human spirit or soul as opposed to material or physical things."
Standing here moved me and felt like I was standing in the middle of the grandest Cathedral or Mosque in the world.
The lake was named by
Father Pierre-Jean De Smet, Maligne meaning "wicked or malignant" in French. The harsh winters and turbulent passage of it's outlet to it's confluence with the Athabasca River were probably why he named it so. Seems it should have been called "Magnifique Lake" to me.
"The island is a spiritual place for the Stoney Nakoda First Nation, who believe mountains are physical representations of their ancestors. The fact that Spirit Island is surrounded on three sides by the same mountain range is very rare and makes it particularly significant to the Stoney."

Thanks for taking a look and for any comments, faves and suggestions!
This gorgeous three year old gypsy Vanner stallion is a beautiful spiritual being. He is inquisitive and non judgmental and seems to have psychic powers and knows what his owner is thinking. He is intuitive and brilliant as well as a clown. I enjoyed my time with him and his gypsy family.

"A Spiritual Meditation"
by Susan T. Reeves
Calm your heart,
and quiet your mind.
Listen to the rhythm
of your heart beat in time
With the music of your soul’s breath
Trust, and your heart won’t contest.
Free your spirit, let it soar,
Feel your being lift from the floor.
Let your body completely relax.
Slowly, you’ll start coming back
With such clarity of the mind,
Peace, to your soul will bind.
Awaken now, and be free
To walk your path and simply be.
Snow builds on the roof of the little Yosemite Chapel.
Last time in Yosemite I just had a make a stop at the chapel.
Thanks for taking the time to take a look at my photos, and as always, your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!! Have a great weekend my friends!! :)

Another image inspired by mythungoc's wonderful collection...
Pretty special summer night under the stars here - quiet, peaceful, alone with my camera and my thoughts (or lack thereof). Spiritual renewal I call it, and I'm feeling it's time...
Sometimes I ride my bicycle through the places of strange calmness. It will force you to stop and unmount and observe. The forest communicate on strange levels with the soul. It keeps your counciousness out of the game, leaving only the weird sence of spiritual experience...
Forest fires and the resulting smoke have been a big deal in Canada since early spring and we certainly encountered it on our recent trip west - having to change plans because of road closures and contending with a smoky haze that irritated the lungs and made us and everything in the car smell like a campfire. It was particularly bad in British Columbia's Thompson Valley and Ontario - extending all the way from Kenora in the north down to Toronto and across the border into the US.
This image is from the west coast of Vancouver Island - the furthest point we were able to go. A couple of things attracted me to this scene - the layers in the landscape and the taller trees in the upper right - the few left standing on the edge of clearcut logging.
Old growth forest is something to behold - full of large trees, large ferns, large sections of mosses - pretty well large everything. I find it spiritual.

This park is located on the Great Plains in Alberta on the border between Canada and the United States of America. The Hoodoos can be found throughout the coulee where the Milk River winds it’s way. Hoodoos are rock sculptures carved out by erosion over time. This place has much spiritual meaning to the Blackfoot nation who used to live here. They help to maintain the integrity of this site. The Blackfoot people believed that when you saw a “face” in the rock, it was a spiritual connection to someone who has passed on. We spent a day walking among the hoodoos and we truly felt there was something special here.
The first time I ever witnessed northern lights, or the aurora borealis, was in 2007. It was totally unexpected and I was ill-prepared for photographing them. The next night I came armed with knowledge as to how to capture them. It was a most spiritual moment ... or should I say hours, for Tom and I. From our campsite we photographed for a bit, but soon got lulled into the experience versus the quest of the image. We gathered some blankets and lots of layers of clothes and laid down on our picnic table and just stared up at nature's light show. It's something that has forever etched itself into my soul. Of course, over the years of visiting Alaska, we have been treated to other sightings and displays as well, such as this one.
Auroras are naturally occurring events related to solar flares. They can present in a variety of shapes, colors, and durations. Each one is different ... each one is special. For those who have witnessed them, you know what I mean. <3
Happy Sunday to all ... hope that have a great one.

Rila monastery, Bulgaria, a popular spot to visit, but it's free of the tourist crowds at night, there's a basic but cheap and perfectly adequate place to stay just outside the monastery. Unfortunately it's not allowed for the public to go up to the upper floors, where the view would have been much better.
