This Lurcher unleashed its blistering pace and almost appeared to skim the surface of this tidal pool, i just love the determined look on his face!

Seen and shot in the BMW Museum (Munich) with the Sony ILCE-7M2 and the Sony FE 16-35mm F4 ZA OSS.

In level flight Puffins are surprisingly quick - reaching speeds up to 55 MPH.

The reason for the tight crop here (other than to show the wonderful detail :-) is that I only just managed to fit him/her in the frame as he/she whizzed past.

Taken on the Isle of Lunga, Inner Herbrides. Home to 10,000 very confiding Puffins and lots of other amazing sea birds.

Speed Of Sound

How long before I get in?

Before it starts, before I begin?

How long before you decide?

Before I know what it feels like?

Where to, where do I go?

If you never try, then you'll never know

How long do I have to climb

Up on the side of this mountain of mine?

Look up, I look up at night

Planets are moving at the speed of light

Climb up, up in the trees

Every chance that you get

Is a chance you seize

How long am I gonna stand

With my head stuck under the sand?

I'll start before I can stop

Before I see things the right way up..............

A pre World War One GN Cycle Car, with a 1908 JAP air-cooled V8 engine. Built by Richard Scaldwell and seen here speeding along the Goodwood race track.

Eight hand-held exposures representing 1.5 seconds and about 30 yards of track. I'm guessing that last bit though - 30 yards in 1.5 seconds is around 40mph which seems probably about right given that the chicane is just out of shot on the right.

For all you continental types, 30 yards is approximately 27 metres.

Staying on a hotel right next to a busy airport is something I have never done in my life. Luckily for me, a training that i decided to take a few months back took place on a hotel overlooking Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport, world's busiest airport for more than a decade. And since my room had an excellent view of the take-off run, i decided to take advantage of it and try a few panning shots. This was the very first panning atempt for me and as you can imagine, i took quite a few photos with onle a couple of them being worth posting. Now I am not an aviation expert so I have literally no clue what this aircraft or other details about it so if anyone knows that kind of stuff, please feel free to provide info on a comment and I will add it to the description.

I'm really happy with my army speeder and wanted to try a 'big boy miniaturist' small vignette with it. Having mixed feelings about it but decided to uploaded it anyway. The yellow trolley looks great as a standalone but the Speeder and it don't really 'blend'.

The hood ornament from a 1942 Packard. With this composition I pay homage to another Flickrite, Jennifer McNeill...hers was much better of course.

Possibly the biggest, baddest, most bulbous speeder bike to emerge from the drawing boards of Llwyngwril Systems. The Turbinia was based around a massive turbine.

Centuries later, all the evidence left for its existence are these four archive photos. They leave many questions unanswered:

Was the giant turbine some form of centrifugal compressor? If so, were did the all of air go? The nozzles on the rear of the bike are quite small.

As the turbine made up a considerable part of the mass of the speeder bike and was effectively a large gyroscope, how the Turbinia generate enough turning force to manoeuvre?

How did the pilot get up to the cockpit?

The mechanics of the anti-gravity systems needed for the Turbinia to hover are, of course, simple and well known.

When a butterfly hovers in the air, its wings typically beat at a rate of about 5 to 20 beats per second (Hz), depending on the species. Smaller butterflies tend to have faster wingbeats, while larger species have slower wingbeats.

This was inspired by de marco's design. An effort was made to make this more proportionally correct and detailed than the TLG version. Inside Rey's scavenger net are her makeshift sled, a drained AT-ST power cell, a targeting interface board, and other salvaged goodies.
