The Olympic torch traveled through Jeju City yesterday to celebrate the 2013 Special Olympics World Winter Games to be held in Pyeongchang from Jan. 29 to Feb. 5th, 2013.

Thialf, 11 maart 2012. Laatste dag van de Europese kwalificatiewedstrijden shorttrack voor de Special Olympics. Heel anders fotograferen dan een “normale” shorttrackwedstrijd. Prachtig die inzet, de prestaties en alle plezier en blijdschap. Vanwege het grote aantal foto’s in deze set heb ik ze voor het uploaden verkleind van pixelbreedte 5184 naar 2000. Alle foto’s op iso 3200 en verder onbewerkt. Ik zal zorgen dat ze in de originele resolutie naar de organisatie gaan.

Single End 1930s
The Single End can be found in a special gallery that tells the story of housing in Glasgow, and how it has changed from the 18th to the 20th century.
Our reconstruction shows a typical single-roomed house that a 1930s working class family would have lived in: Just one room where everyone cooked, ate, slept and washed in.
Visitors can experience the cramped conditions, hear an account of what it was like to live in a single end, and even smell some scents associated with life there, including carbolic soap and gas.
The People's Palace and Winter Gardens in Glasgow, Scotland is a museum and glasshouse situated in Glasgow Green, and was opened on 22 January 1898 by the Earl of Rosebery.
At the time, the East End of Glasgow was one of the most unhealthy and overcrowded parts of the city, and the People's Palace was intended to provide a cultural centre for the people. It was designed by the City Engineer, Alexander B. McDonald. At the opening ceremony Lord Rosebery stated: "A palace of pleasure and imagination around which the people may place their affections and which may give them a home on which their memory may rest". He declared the building "Open to the people for ever and ever".

The annual Jingle All The Way 3K® brought people with and without disabilities together at the SONJ Sports Complex in Lawrenceville to raise funds and to have fun! Participants ran, walked and strolled either the 1K or the 3K, both of which started and ended at the Sports Complex, then made their way inside to kick off the holiday season. Jingle All The Way 3K has an annual tradition of a rotating dress-code, and this year, the event's theme was country western.
