The inspection special, headed by DDA40X #6936, creeps into Altoona. This unit hasnt been here since the 90s and several other railfans were also waiting with me to welcome its return. Afterwards, I headed it off at the Chippewa River Bridge and videotaped it passing beneath me.
My old boss Bob had a very regular routine, in that almost every friday during his career at the University of Minnesota, he'd go to Shuang Cheng (a local Chinese restaurant, much better than average), and order one of the Friday lunch specials: Sesame chicken, with a bowl of wonton soup.
Bob did this often enough that it became informally known as the "Bob Special", and even people that didn't know Bob can and have sucessfully ordered it.
I came to town to celebrate Bob's retirement, and part of his last Friday at work was another trip to Shuang Cheng for the "Bob Special."
What impressed me is that, as someone who also regularly ordered the Bob Special from 1995 through 2001, the staff at Shuang Cheng still recognized me and said, "Haven't seen you around lately... where have you been?".
Gotta like a place where they recognize you as a "regular", even after years of absence (I last had a Bob Special in 2003).

Uncle Dave always fights bad guys with the girls and it has morphed into quite the elaborate game. They have spy names, a headquarters, special agents training exercises....so of course the girls needed matching t-shirts to wear while they are playing!
I love everything about this picture. I asked them to show me something they learned in special agent training.
