Our weather in western Pennsylvania this week has been more like January instead of November. This photo was taken in South Park, Allegheny County.
Got a few shots of this same weather-worn tree several years ago and then again last week. It is out in the wide open spaces of South Park, an area in central Colorado. It has endured wind, heat, freezing cold, hail, snowstorms, you name it and here it still stands, a testament to the tenacity of life.
This is from the hot air balloon Toucan Pilot. It was taken from the parachute looking down into the skirt and basket during cold inflation.

I'm starting a new series. (Oh, no! Not a series!!) of images from my journals that I have been keeping since I was 12 [1996]. This is the first jouranl from the series.
The huge ass journal I wrote in from April 20-October 26, 2002. I was 18/19 when I wrote this.
I named the journal after a Mystery Science Theater 3000 quote because at the time I was writing this journal I started to get into MST3K.
"Safety in numbers"
This isn't half the size of this elk herd in South Park, near the town of Jefferson. Took a quick trip today to a friend of mine cabin just above Como.
"IT ... will change everything! We're going to have to redesign cities."
The ring inside the chain is comprised of droid arms and Brickarms Uclips, and held in tension through rubber bands. Mr Hat and the Gyroscope are done with stickers. The rear flexigrip has been replaced with the more familiar seat arrangement by popular customer request. The Brickarms monopods are not required for the build, but they do make for tighter construction. Likewise, the Uclips can be replaced with 3mm hose segments but are stronger and have better appearance.

Such was the hype surrounding the introduction of "IT", a futuristic vehicle featured in the hilarious 5th season South Park episode "The Entity." "IT" may have been inspired by singer Enrique Iglesias, but it was really lampooning the over hyped Segway scooter. Hence, I thought it would be appropriate for Mr Garrison and Mr Hat to introduce "IT" from a Segway. The government confiscated and destroyed all "IT"s except for this prototype which can be seen on display at the Area51 Cruise Night at Brickworld next month.

The Southpark Mall opened in 1980 and it's 230,107 Square Feet. The original anchors were Woolco and JCPenney with current anchors being JCPenney, Dunham's Sports and Hobby Lobby which have no mall access. Woolco closed in 1983 and became Walmart. Walmart then relocated to a supercenter in the 90's and became Jack's which was bought by Shopko in 1997. Shopko closed in 2001 and became Dunham's Sports and another store. Hobby Lobby ended up taking over both spaces in 2014 and Dunham's took over a portion of the mall. The mall was built even with the tiny population of Spencer due to the Iowa Great Lakes which has many rich people having summer houses. Since there ain't many options, the mall does ok business. This mall has a food court and fountain which are rare for rural area malls. I've been coming to this mall at least one every year for the past 9 years since going to the Iowa Great Lakes.
