There are many wonderful spots to enjoy a sunrise or sunset on Windsor, Ontario’s riverfront. One continuous park stretches for 5 kilometres along the shore of the southeast side of the Detroit River, including this great walkway that juts several metres out into the river.
Heart Spring
Upper Geyser Basin
Yellowstone National Park
Immediately southeast of the Lion Group, Heart Spring is a pretty pool of clear blue water, 15 feet deep and 10 feet across, enclosed by white sinter mats and orange-brown algae. It was named in the 1950s because of its heart-like shape. The pool is generally inactive, its water temperature a little below boiling. www.americansouthwest.net

Croatia is a country in Southeast Europe. It borders Slovenia to the northwest, Hungary to the northeast, Serbia to the east, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro to the southeast, sharing a maritime border with Italy. Croatia was part of the former Yugoslavia. A population of 4 million, most of whom are Catholics. Zagreb is the capital. Balanced between the Balkans and Central Europe, this country has been passed between rival kingdoms, empires and republics for thousands of years. If there is an advantage to this ongoing disruption, it is in the rich cultural legacy each has left behind. From Venetian palaces, Napoleonic fortresses, Slavic churches, Viennese mansions to socialist sculptures. But most attraction is the coastline with the remarkable clarity of the water and white pebbly beach. Despite being the fastest rising holiday destination in Europe in the past decade, Croatia still doesn't feel overrun by tourists. There are long sandy and winding beaches too, perfect for lazy days. Croatia is a beautiful country to discover many different landscapes. Dubrovnik is according to many one of the most beautiful cities on the Adriatic coast. This city in Croatia is also called the Pearl of the Adriatic. The historic center, or rather the completely walled fortress city of Dubrovnik, is on the list of UNESCO World Heritage. This part is still in a remarkably good condition. A wonderful place to discover on foot, it is a city with a diverse, but also rough past. Remarkably, the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque churches, as well as the various monasteries, palaces and fountains have been preserved. They all tell their own story from the Middle Ages.
Dubrovnik is a city on the Adriatic Sea in southern Croatia. It is one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the Mediterranean Sea. The history of the city probably dates back to the 7th century. The city is completely surrounded by defensive walls and fortresses. Franciscan Church and Monastery is situated at the Placa, the main street of Dubrovnik. It's a large complex consists of a monastery, a church, a library and a pharmacy. This church is lovely inside. The library contains over 70,000 books. The earliest monastery was built in the 13th century. The monastery was built in 1360 in late Romanesque style. A beautiful cloister garden hidden away from the busy tourist places in Dubrovnik. Peaceful and silent despite being in the heart of the old city this is a tiny and unexpected oasis of green within historic architecture. Still a sacred place but with a small museum of artefacts and paintings. The pharmacy dates from 1317 and is the oldest still functioning pharmacy in the Europe Photo taken from 14th-century fortress Tvrđava Minčeta located at the highest point of Dubrovnik offering panoramic city & sea views.
Another blast from the past---speaking of 'blast'--It was quite cold and windy that day in April. Fortunately we found a spot protected from the wind where this guy was singing!!!

I am still amazed at the beauty and variety in the Aurora display on October 10th. I have driven to dark sky parks, travelled to Alaska, and not had any success. This night I wandered a few miles from my house and got to witness the most beautiful show.

Between 35 to 41 inches long with a wingspan of 4 fewet 7 inches. A large, all white heron with a yellow bill and black legs. In breeding plumage has long lacy plumes on back. In southern Florida, white form of the Great Blue Heron, known as "Great White Heron" is similar but larger with greenish-yrllow legs. Much smaller Snowy Egret has black bill and black legs with yellow feet.
The Great Egret can be found in both freshwater and salt marshes, marshy ponds and tidal flats.
They breed locally from Oregon south to western Mexico, from Minnesota to the Mississippi Valley and Southeast, and along the Atlantic Coast north to southern New England. They winter regularly north along the Pacific Coast to Oregon, the Southwest, Texas and the Gulf Coast states. On the Atlantic Coast, north to New Jersey. Also in tropical America and warmer parts of the Old World.

Legend has it that Djerba was the island of the Lotus-Eaters where Odysseus stranded on his voyage through the Mediterranean.
The island, called Meninx until the third century AD, included three principal towns. One of these, whose modern name is Būrgū, is found near Midoun in the center of the island. The remains of a large town dating from the fourth century BC are signalled by high mounds and dense pottery, as well as by a major tomb, possibly that of a member of the Numidian royal family. Another city, on the southeast coast of the island at Meninx, was a major producer of murex dye, cited by Pliny the Elder as second only to Tyre in this respect; substantial amounts of coloured marble testify to its wealth. In the third century the same town appears to have been called Girba, whence the present name of the island. At least two bishops of Girba are known, Monnulus and Vincent, who assisted at the Councils of Carthage in 255 and 525 (Toulotte, Géographie de l'Afrique chrétienne Proconsulaire, Paris, 1892, pp. 353 and 380). Their cathedral can be identified with ruins to the southwest of Meninx. A third important town, on the south coast near the modern pottery village of Guellala; was probably the ancient Haribus. The island was densely inhabited in the Roman and Byzantine periods, and probably imported much of the grain consumed by its inhabitants. A collapse can be seen after 650 A.D., when the Justinianic plague may have struck the port of Meninx.

Tonlé Sap lake in Cambodia is part of the Mekong River system and the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia. The size and depth of the lake changes dramatically depending on wet or dry season, so structures can't sit on pylons. There are also floating stores, schools, storehouses, henhouses and other structures. Most people are engaged in fishing or trading.
