Sound of Silence - Simon and Garfunkel

And in the naked light, I saw

Ten thousand people, maybe more

People talking without speaking

People hearing without listening

People writing songs that voices never shared

And no one dared

Disturb the sound of silence

"Fools" said I, "You do not know

Silence like a cancer grows

Hear my words that I might teach you

Take my arms that I might reach you"

But my words, like silent raindrops fell

And echoed in the wells of silence

Heavy rain on the famous Doubtful Sound, a beautiful fjord in Fiordland National Park / New Zealand.

It is the deepest and second longest fjord in New Zealand.

The area is extremely rainy, in neighboring Milford Sound the annual rainfall is 8000mm!

I remember tears streaming down your face

When I said, "I'll never let you go."

When all those shadows almost killed your light

I remember you said, "Don't leave me here alone,"

But all that's dead and gone and passed tonight

Just close your eyes

The sun is going down

You'll be alright

No one can hurt you now

Come morning light

You and I'll be safe and sound

Don't you dare look out your window, darling.

Everything's on fire

The war outside our door keeps raging on

Hold on to this lullaby

Even when the music's gone

Gone

Just close your eyes

The sun is going down

You'll be alright

No one can hurt you now

Come morning light

You and I'll be safe and sound

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh

La, la (la, la)

La, la (la, la)

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh

La, la (la, la)

Just close your eyes

You'll be alright

Come morning light,

You and I'll be safe and sound...

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, oh, oh

Puget Sound as all the waters south of three entrances from the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The main entrance at Admiralty Inlet is defined as a line between Point Wilson on the Olympic Peninsula, and Point Partridge on Whidbey Island. The second entrance is at Deception Pass along a line from West Point on Whidbey Island, to Deception Island, then to Rosario Head on Fidalgo Island. The third entrance is at the south end of the Swinomish Channel, which connects Skagit Bay and Padilla Bay.

long black train

josh turner

There's a long black train

Coming down the line

Feeding off the souls that are lost and crying

Rails of sin only evil remains

Watch out brother for that long black train

Look to the heavens

You can look to the skies

You can find redemption

Staring back into your eyes

There is protection and there's peace the same

Burnin' your ticket for that long black train

'Cause there's victory in the Lord I say

Victory in the Lord

Cling to the Father and his holy name

And don't go riding on that long black train

There's an engineer on that long black train

Making you wonder if your ride is worth the pain

He's just a waitin' on your heart to say

Let me ride on that long black train

But you know there's victory in the Lord I say

Victory in the Lord

Cling to the Father and his holy name

And don't go riding on that long black train

Well I can hear the whistle from a mile away

It sounds so good

But I must stay away

That train is a beauty making everybody stare

But its only destination is the middle of nowhere

But you know there's victory in the Lord I say

Victory in the Lord

Cling to the Father and his holy name

And don't go riding on that long black train

I said cling to the father and his holy name and don't go ridin' on that black train

Yes watch out brother for that long black train

That devil's a drivin' that long black train

No more the schoolyard sounds of giggling girls and boasting boys in the once booming gold mining town of Bannack, Montana. They exist only in our minds now, and on the tattered pages of the school records and journals.

Doubtful sound in Southland on the Tasman sea, New Zealand, gets its name from Captain Cooke in 1770 as he was uncertain if was suitable for navigation (he named it doubtful harbour and was later renamed to doubtful sound). It however a fjord rather than a sound.

For "Sound" it had to be my violin. If I don't play it (and I know I should, but, oh dear, the overcoming!), I can at least honour it with a bit of Flickr sunshine from time to time. Maybe I should work on my "scratch resitance" (sound-wise), it might help me to get over the first caterwauling hours of exercise after so many years of not practicing ;-)

This, you've guessed it, is a small part of the F hole, about 2 cm / 0,78 inches wide. I decided to go for a slightly more "obscure", kind of vague low key look with a very shallow DOF, because when it comes to music, sound in general, it often is not very clear at all why we like a song, a specific sound, or why we positively hate it. Sound, music moves us, either way.

I have a busy day today, so I can only stop by here today occasionally, I hope to catch up with you later! HMM, Everyone, and have a nice and safe week ahead!

Of course the coast has spectacular sunsets, the sun dipping down into the sound is likely a sight I wont soon forget. I knew I wanted a good sunset, though when I had originally considered the idea I had wanted to do a sunset at one of the lighthouses. Those plans fell apart, so I headed back to Corolla, and wandered down towards the docks.. There was a bit of a party taking place there, so I meandered my way around to get out of the way, and here we have it. A lovely shot into Currituck Sound, gentle reflections, clouds rolling through the sky, the long exposure hiding some of the people.

Macro Mondays: Sound

A very nice Flickr Friend mentioned the song Sounds of Silence on one of my photos and then of course this marvelous song goes through my head each time I am in the same modus I was at the time he mentioned it 😋

We do get influenced upon words, but it's my own choice if I allow it deeper in.

How cool isn't that.

Welcome Sounds of Silence 🙏

The sound of bluebirds approaching the yard is a joyful sound indeed.

Lady and Mr. B seem to be getting serious about checking out the nest box. They are going in it and out of it often throughout the day. One will perch on top while the other one goes inside. The one that goes in, flies out to oak three and the other one goes inside. In addition, they are visiting the yard together on occasion without the other two males. This activity has me checking the nest cam daily for a piece of moss or a stick.

Former bluebirds always placed a single item in the box and checked on it several times daily before building a nest. That's when you know they are really serious. Once they are satisfied that the box is safe, nest building happens rather quickly.

May I say thank you in advance for the faves, comments and visits. I have somehow injured my wrist and typing is difficult at the moment.

I hope your day is filled with beautiful sights, sounds and true joy. Happy snapping.

Sounds of Silence

Disturbed

Hello darkness, my old friend

I've come to talk with you again

Because a vision softly creeping

Left its seeds while I was sleeping

And the vision that was planted in my brain

Still remains

Within the sound of silence

In restless dreams, I walked alone

Narrow streets of cobblestone

'Neath the halo of a street lamp

I turned my collar to the cold and damp

When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light

That split the night

And touched the sound of silence

And in the naked light, I saw

Ten thousand people, maybe more

People talking without speaking

People hearing without listening

People writing songs that voices never shared

And no one dared

Disturb the sound of silence

"Fools" said I, "You do not know

Silence like a cancer grows

Hear my words that I might teach you

Take my arms that I might reach you"

But my words, like silent raindrops fell

And echoed in the wells of silence

And the people bowed and prayed

To the neon god they made

And the sign flashed out its warning

In the words that it was forming

Then the sign said, "The words on the prophets are written on the subway walls

In tenement halls"

And whispered in the sound of silence

Milford Sound is a fiord in the southwest of New Zealand’s South Island. It’s known for towering Mitre Peak, plus rainforests and waterfalls like Stirling and Bowen falls, which plummet down its sheer sides. The fiord is home to fur seal colonies, penguins and dolphins. Milford Discovery Centre and Underwater Observatory offers views of rare black coral and other marine life. Boat tours are a popular way to explore.

I understand you

...and i'm screaming it under my breath.

"Thank you very much for all your faves and stay healthy" :-)

In deze wereld vol lawaai, koos ik een onderwerp van stilte voor dit thema.

In this world full of noise, I chose a subject of silence for this theme.

Thanks for taking time to fave, comment and look at my picture. I really appreciate it.
