Thank you to everyone for attending yesterday's annual Soul Food Tasting in the Crist Student Center. The event was held in conjunction with Black History Month and hosted by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, the Black Student Association of Carl Sandburg College and Student Life. #BlackHistoryMonth

São Paulo é considerada a Capital Mundial do Graffiti. Basta aguçar o olhar para perceber o impressionante número de pinturas espalhadas pela cidade. Da mesma forma, num âmbito mundial, a arte de rua nos últimos anos deixou de ser vista como algo “marginal” e passou a ser requisitada em museus e galerias do mundo todo, muitas vezes obrigando os artistas a adaptar seus trabalhos dos muros para as telas. Neste contexto, o Soul Sampa desenvolveu um Roteiro Cultural com foco em Arte Urbana que visa explicar o fenômeno do graffiti num contexto global (sua origem, os primeiros artistas e suas motivações), apresentar
os principais artistas de São Paulo e as diferentes técnicas utilizadas por eles (mão livre, stencil art, lambe-lambe, sticker art, bombing, e muitas outras). Tudo isto, caminhando pelas ruas do bairro da Vila Madalena, que por concentrar a maior diversidade de artistas, obras e
galerias se mostrou o local ideal para o desenvolvimento deste trajeto. O Soul Sampa trabalha em parceria com a AEIOU (Operadora de Telefonia Celular) e com o patrocínio de tintas da Colorgym. O roteiro é guiado pela artista de rua Yá!, que ao final do roteiro ministra um workshop prático no qual os participantes podem aprender a fazer a sua própria arte.

The Soul Nebula (Westerhout 5) is an emission nebula located in the constellation Cassiopeia. It forms a famous pair known as the Heart and Soul with the neighbouring Heart Nebula (IC 1805). The Soul Nebula is sometimes also known as the Embryo Nebula or IC 1848, which is a designation used for the open star cluster embedded within the nebula. The Soul Nebula is about 100 light years across and has an estimated age of 1 million years. It contains several small open stars clusters. IC 1848 is embedded in the body of the nebula, while the clusters CR 34, 632 and 634 can be seen in the head. Small emission nebulae IC 1871, 670 and 669 are located just next to the Soul Nebula.
