"Could be, who knows?

There's somethin' due any day

I will know right away, soon as it shows

It may come cannonballin' down through the sky

Gleam in its eye, bright as a rose

Who knows?"

Lyrics from "Something's Coming" from the musical "West Side Story" written by Stephen Sondheim, Leonard Bernstein, Stephane Audard and Ludovic Jaen Pierre Giquet De Preissac (1957).

Well I think something is coming, and I know it's going to be great. For finally, after what has felt like a rather cold and bitter winter, there is a sense of spring in the air as the days grow longer. There are more days of blue skies, the temperatures, during the day at any rate, are becoming milder, and the gardens around me are starting to dress themselves in their spring finery, like this old Kobus Magnolia that sits in the garden of an old Edwardian weatherboard villa, which I saw basking in the glorious sunshine on a stroll this afternoon.

Magnolia kobus, known as mokryeon, kobus magnolia, or kobushi magnolia, is a species of Magnolia native to Japan and Korea and occasionally cultivated in temperate areas. Magnolia kobus blooms in the early spring, bearing pleasantly fragrant white flowers with hints of pale pink about four inches in diameter. The flowers are produced before the leaves, as with most members of Magnolia subgenus Yulania. Young trees do not flower.

Sunrise at Cleethorpe seaside.

I loved this shot

Not as 'clean' or dynamic as the diver but it had something I liked

Perhaps it appealed because it had a 'rougher' reality to it

on my old town walk

A alternative bar in Bale, a little village in Istria / Croatia.

Spotted this lovely building and fence while on a walking tour almost exactly two years ago.

The sign on the building indicates it has something to do with holistic learning, which incorporates the mind, body and spirit.

There is always something sad about the trams, may be because they are like our lives: They appear from nothingness and disappear in the horizon of the crowds.

Makeover Sept 2022

Had fun with this new edit.

I wish I had something better to write

This is my home town and one of the fjords that surround it. It will almost always blow at the coast, stronger or weaker. Except this day it didn’t, the sea was like a mirror. It’s very, very rare, and made it a day to remember. I was hiking with my dog, I’m glad that I always bring my camera with me!

Thanks a lot for your visits, comments, faves, invites, etc ... Always very much appreciated !

A Flower

Have you ever heard

of a flower that never needs

Water, soil, or sunshine?

A flower that stays in full bloom

Through summer and winter

Through good times and bad

A flower that rarely gets smaller,

growing endlessly.

A few lost petals,

A little droop,

but, without a doubt,

it will always regrow

into something more beautiful.

I have one of those.

I call it Love.

Say something, I'm giving up on you

I'm sorry that I couldn't get to you

Anywhere, I would've followed you

Say something, I'm giving up on you

And I will swallow my pride

You're the one that I love

And I'm saying goodbye

Say something, I'm giving up on you

Botallack, Cornwall

My last upload of 2022 and another image from the Cornwall tour with Mark, Geoff and Shelly. 2022 has been mainly a series of many low points with very few highlights for me, but Cornwall was definitely the pinnacle and an opportunity to get away and do something for myself with good friends.

I’ve not posted a lot this year, in fact it’s been my second lowest output (a measly 57) since I joined Flickr way back in 2015. So, I’ll bypass all the fake New Year’s celebrations this weekend and dive head first into 2023 next week. As the song says… things can only get better!

See you all in 2023 and many thanks for all the support and comments throughout the year.

If you look hard, you can see Manhattan and New York Harbor in the background.
