Ik kwam deze poster tegen in m'n buurt. De grote billen parade in de Marcanti discotheek. Wat is er mis met een Miss verkiezing, Haha!? Tijden zijn veranderd. Waarschijnlijk door invloed van de vele video clips op MTV.

I saw Daughter last night and was quite impressed with both Daughter and openers Wilsen. Elena Tonra of Daughter was quite marvelous in many ways. I really enjoyed hearing them play many songs off of If You Leave.

Note: Some of you may know my misery regarding when Justice first came to Vancouver. I brought my wide angle lens and was denied by security because I had a "professional camera" (oh please). So tonight I brought my stalker lens and had a rematch with Justice hitting up the Commodore Ballroom. Sweet.

Cinchel won tickets to see Laura Marling last night in Chicago at Lincoln Hall...second time I have seen her and had found her quite a bit less vulnerable seeming and pretty good spirits with a band ensemble to back her and a guitar tech to boot. Some of her songs are sort of like folk sea chanties and the others, especially the new ones, go a little towards the Mumford and Sons ends of things. On a personal level, I enjoyed Alessi's Ark (the opener, also from England) a little more than Laura's set this time around but I like Marling's old songs much better than her new songs. In either way, she's gaining a bigger audience for sure with a sold out show and quite a quiet and appreciative crowd.

I was looking through some old photos, and I decided, that I wanted to edit this one and upload it to flickr. The old one wasn't edited, so. I love Fleur, I love her soooo much. *-*

Nils Frahm played Chopin Theater in Chicago last Thurs. and I was quite mesmerized. His music can sometimes be a little whimsical and reminds me at times of the composer Steven Reich. The songs I liked best were the very dark and sad songs that this young yet so seemingly sad (when he plays) man can conjure. At one point, I even felt a tear gather at the corner of an eye. Nils Frahm succeeded in making me feel the darkness of life and still inspired me to keep living, which is something I can't say for many other musicians.

Have you ever been in a place you knew and loved so well, looked forward to every time you were there, then in the blink of an eye your surroundings changed? Everything became dark and unfamiliar, and the only thing that was familiar were your friends who were just as angry about it as you were? You can't leave because your roots are too deeply planted, and if you did dig them up you would only fall into the water and not be able to breathe?
I know we will all get up and dust ourselves off, get used to the new surroundings, and be forced to like it. I ran across this article, and as long as it is, it's definitely worth the time to read it... this guy tells it like it is

This thing was parked up by my backdoor. The Painter put it there.
I was inclined to give this a title of denatured. I've cleaned it up a bit, rubbed out the bugs. Country driving will do that; cover anything with bugs, or around here: a feral deer, a kangaroo, a wombat… Colours have been stripped out of it too. Honestly? I don't think it deserves them.
This thing was parked up by my backdoor because that's where it's easiest to access a power socket. No, it's not keeping the sump oil warm, as say, in Sweden, in winter. Oh no, that's not just because it isn't cold this Winter, or the oil all leaked out either as any owner of a British sports car might explain. It's because not only doesn't it have a sump, it isn't even British!
A once revered marque, the pride of Morris Garages is now Made in China; the brand bought by Saic Motor, and in the case of this one actually powered by a motor. Devoid of an engine, instead it has a battery, and the deep growl we associate with the marque has been replace by, well, nothing really; silence.
Now was a good time to go back inside. With the door closed, I couldn't see it…
