3 of my photos (including 2 on front page!) were used to illustrated Roger Naylor's "Winter Gems of La Paz" article in today's Arizona Republic.

All were shot on 35mm.

Happy mid-week my friends =)

Thank you all for your constant support and friendship!!!!!

He was on my porch looking for food after the long winter....I gave him some seeds and nuts. (porch furniture isn't out yet)..I think today I saw chippie #2. Last year I had several. It's good to know that they made it through the brutal winter!

I FOUND ONE!!!!

The rare and coveted junonia is sought after by people who come to the

Island of Sanibel. In fact if you find one you get your picture in the paper!

Yesterday we were at Beach #4, it was a lovely morning, low tide, so I was meandering through the tide pool. There were lots of shells. Rachel and the kids were with us and I was basically taking pictures and finding shells for her.

I bent down thinking I was picking up a tulip shell and when I saw it was a junonia I screamed!! It is one of those shells that even islanders long to find.

So here you have it!! :-)

And yes I went and got my picture taken at the local newspaper.

Even the people we are staying with who have been on the island for many years haven't ever found one. It is rare.

I feel rather blessed.

:-)

Here is a photo of a junonia that I posted for my 365 back in May. It was one we bought for our collection. It is perfect but not as precious as mine....

They were so excited to be taking off on their balloon ride. Temecula, CA

A watercolour I did ages ago, I'll get to photograph the real thing...one day!

Well were finally here Day 365! I really can't believe it... I started this project thinking well it be fun to see how far I can go before I just couldn't do it anymore but I actually finished it and it's all thanks to Troy. It's been an amazing journey learning more about photography like actually knowing how to use my camera and most importantly getting a chance to capture my son in his everyday life whether it was him eating, sleeping, crying, laughing, getting mad at me lol. But as his mother all so precious and beautiful to me.

This is probably the best thing I've ever done with my photography and I'm so grateful that I had the opportunity to do this. Being a stay at home mother is so rewarding, I love that I was there for all his milestones in his life so far. It's truly a blessing and I've learned to not take it for granted. Troy has been my biggest teacher through it all, he has been teaching me everyday all about love, life and all the little things that I used to take for granted.

I'm so grateful for all the support through the flickr community your sweet comments week by week meant the world to us! So I want to take a moment to thank you all from the bottom of my heart. You all have inspired me in one way or the other and have made this project much more worth while. Thank you friends sooo very much! :}

I want to also thank my husband for all his love and support for my project and helping me finish with sometimes taking his photo for me the day‘s I couldn‘t. I love that I count on him and I love that he supports me the way he does in everything I want to do with my photography. I love him and I'm so happy to call him my son's father and my husband. :}

Yay! Were finally done time to celebrate …. Happy Dance Time :}

I'm entering this into Cliche Saturday

I can't wait SO BAD !!! Someone make the time run faster, please !!!

“Do we need the rope?” I belayed Rod around the corner and, watching as he went up, I waited eagerly for a response. My heart was racing! Could this really be it! It seemed like the mountain had finally accepted us. I removed the rope and with my excitement and anticipation, using all four limbs scrambled as quickly as I could up and round the corner.

A mixed snow and rock slope seemed to welcome us in and beckoned us on to finally reveal the summit. As we moved upward it revealed a flat snow platform with a small rocky peak on the far end. We had made it!!! Standing on that snow platform with the actual summit only metres away I was awestruck and savoured the moment before taking the final steps.

I can’t really explain the feeling. I imagine if I received a call and someone told me I had won the lotto that that would be the closest thing to describe how it felt to be standing here. Even now when I'm writing about it I have that feeling coming back. After three days of hard work and with the seeming impossible before us at times we had overcome and persisted to finally stand on top. Our first summit!

that I grew all this! Some of you may know that I have been gardening for years but I've pretty much stuck to tomatoes with a few other bits and bobs thrown in. It was so exciting to have a harvest like this full of many firsts for me- garlic! cipollini onions! broccoli! And the tomatoes haven't even started yet...

yep

a bosom full of news is what I have for you.....

Met a very cool self-portrait artist who happens to live right next to me, and we have decided to create some very unique pieces of art together......I look forward to sharing them, and I will keep you posted.

My girl - love her! **UPDATE, my sweet Kevyn has just passed over the rainbow bridge. I will always cherish the 12 years we spent together. I think of her daily ....

I am very excited...this is the first hummingbird ever that I have seen in my yard. I put up a feeder, and now I have two! They are so fast and hard to capture. I will need alot of practice. He's cool in the lightbox. Have a wonderful week, flickr friends.

Patiently waiting for me to wrap them up and load them into the car. :D

Two weeks today and we will be in the air on our way for another trip to South Africa. Time has flown so fast since we first began booking our trip and it is now so close. We will be visiting a couple of new places this time - Motswari Private Game Reserve and the Kgalagardi Transfrontier Park (so exciting) as well as Pilanesberg Game Park and Kruger National Park.

I made Mummy Giraffe a while back and decided to make a baby giraffe to take with me as a gift for a friend.

We've been up north this week, got back today.

One of our afternoons we came across these beauties.

Pasta with ramps, asparagus, and morels was had for dinner that night.

I'm leaving in a few minutes and I couldn't find a picture that I'd taken that conveyed what I felt, so I'm posting something I've made!! I am totally excited for tonight and I'll catch up with you all tomorrow!! Take care everyone!

Sorry for the lame photo, but I literally did not move from this chair all weekend (except to go to bed). I worked my tail off, but all of my writing is finished! Now on to editing and refining. We are so close!

but it's better than sex. LOL LOL

Yep, got me the 50mm 1.4 WOOOOOT!

TGIF once again. :)

I've ordered myself something rather nice. I'm so excited! My Grandad gave me a little bit of money before he passed away, and told me to use it for something useful rather than just spending it. It's been sitting in my drawer for the whole year, gathering dust. I'd been pondering for ages, so this isnt something I've decided to buy on a whim. Jack fully agrees that I should buy it. I know it's something my Grandad would totally approve of too :D My mum will tell me I'm a fool, especially considering the current financial climate and my situation, but I'm seeing it as an investment.

I expect it to arrive within the week so will be sure to show you what it is (and no, no sports car... I said a little bit of money!)

Sorry I've been missing... I've been a little busy lately and I'm going away for an extended weekend! It's my anniversary on Tuesday, so my hubby and I are going to go and celebrate this weekend. I'll be back Tuesday night or some time Wednesday!! I hope everyone has an AMAZING weekend! Take care and see you all soon!
