Great Smoky Mountains - The place is surrounded by a dense forest with a river running though it. The great smoky mountain is covered with foggy all year long, sometimes it is too thick, you have to wait for a while until you can see the scenery… But the foggy covered scenery always attracts me, in the middle of nowhere with nothing around but Natures Mountains… The beauty of these mountains allow you for those brief moments to forget about everything else that's going on in life. It's just you, and the majesty of the woods in the mist.
Montreal Autumn Evening at Mount Royal. Enjoying a stroll amidst beautiful leaves. :)

This jellyfish at the Dallas World Aquarium reminds me of lazy rings of smoke wafting through a darkened pub, just barely catching the light.
The Woolsey fire created so much smoke that it gave the sun an unreal appearance at sunset. I didn't do a whole lot to this photo. This was taken more than 70 miles away from the fire.
We never sleep late on our vacations. We drove about 1 hour to snap this sunrise in the Smoky Mountains. Every day was a different treat!

Morton Overlook in Great Smoky Mountains National Park is incredible right now! I was fortunate enough to have a spectacular, warm-hued sunset to accentuate the colors present in the high elevations. I was out from Friday until Tuesday exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway and GSMNP, and I'm glad I stopped at Morton Overlook on a whim!
MNNR 80, an RS23, leads a cut of boxcars from the Commercial Transload of Minneapolis along 71st Ave toward the siding. The RS23's sole job is to swap cars at the transload and International Paper (the property to the right) as demanded by the customers. The Commercial Transload reloads mostly coils and steel and often requires cuts of three cars swapped out several times a day. Cars are then interchanged with the MNNR's Belt Job which interchanges the cars at the siding just East of here. MNNR 80 is one of probably less than a handful of RS23s still actively hauling freight in the US. The former CP unit was built in 1959 and continues to earn her keep at the Minnesota Commercial on almost a daily basis. Fridley, Minneapolis, MN
Perhaps selling and allowing fireworks is a bad idea. Smoky skies due to a fire in Utah, started by fireworks.. Our air quality always suffers during July!
I've been very unmotivated to take pictures lately. The fires are bad and the smoke is horrible. Last night I took this of a very smoky moon. The orange is the color as I saw it. Praying for all those who are in the line of destruction.
It is time to get the fire going in the little "cortijos" dotted on the mountain sides of Las Alpujarras, Andalucia, Spain
Korth's Meadow - Iowa
We are being told that the hazy morning sky lately is upper atmosphere smoke from the wild fires out west. It colors the early sun in various shades of pink and red. Very unusual for our midwestern part of the country.
Yes, we all feel bad about the heartache and destruction these fires are causing. Living here in Iowa, we have no idea what that would be like . . .

We are getting the high altitude smoke from the Alberta wildfires all the way here in the Mid-Atlantic. Seen on my after dinner walk. HWW!
Took a long weekend to Smoky Mountain National Park in Tennessee to photography the many waterfalls and streams of springtime.
Had to break out the Otter Socks on this one to catch the cascading water through the mountain forest as the morning sun broke through the trees.

Back in the summer of 2014, K185 pounds the diamonds at Leipsic Junction behind a pair of smoky AC44's. This summer morning angle was my favorite shot on the B&O north of Lima, and I wasn't able to do it nearly enough.
Effective at 0759 today, the B&O signals were removed from service as their replacements were cut in.
Denver has the worst air quality in the world since the smoke from wildfires comes from the West of Colorado.
