It is found in Peninsular Malaysia, Myanmar and Thailand, and can occasionally be found in Singapore. In light of what seems a dramatic decline in their numbers over recent years it was reassuring to see plenty of Small Tortoiseshells at a local spot at the weekend. They were making the most of the Devil's Bit Scabious in full bloom.

There are 4 or 5 species of orange-colored globemallow flowers that can be found in Colorado. Based on the location, the overall appearance, and the shape of the leaves, I deduce that this is Small-leaf Globemallow (Sphaeralcea parvifolia).

There was a mass of grasses, vines and other plants on a slope at Colorado's Red Rock Park, but these spikes of bright orange flowers stood above the tangled greenery--a most delightful sight.

It's getting colder but the nature is strong. Still mushroom and beautiful moss.

My small paint box is no match for natures ability to put on a show.

Taken with my rental Laowa 60mm f/2.8 2x macro lens that I just purchased. Inexpensive and fun.

Rare sunlight. I'm ready for rain now.

Rented from www.Lensrentals.com. Used that company for years now. I have no connection with the distant company. FedEx works well.

Sitting in your car, surrounded by the unpleasant reality of your current life. Wouldn’t you dream of a beautiful but distant setting? Maybe it’s a memory of where you’ve been before and left behind, or someplace you’ve only read about or seen in photos....We all have dreams.

More mushies... just for the hell of it.

Lycaena phlaeas, the small copper, American copper, or common copper, is a butterfly of the Lycaenids or gossamer-winged butterfly family.

The small tortoiseshell (Aglais urticae) is a colourful Eurasian butterfly in the family Nymphalidae. Adults feed on nectar and may hibernate over winter; in warmer climates they may have two broods in a season. While the dorsal surface of the wings is vividly marked, the ventral surface is drab, providing camouflage. Eggs are laid on the common nettle, on which the larvae feed. (Wikipedia)

This moth, the Small Magpie, Anania Hortulata, was on my bathroom ceiling the other morning and this shot of the little fella involved me balancing precariously on the rim of the bath and reaching up as close as I could get, without scaring him off!
