アサギマダラ(浅葱斑、Parantica sita)は、チョウ目・タテハチョウ科・マダラチョウ亜科に分類されるチョウの一種。翅の模様が鮮やかな大型のチョウで、長距離を移動することでも知られている。

Not the highest elevation on record, but had myself a little wheelie going on one day! With the pivot mounting for the dinosaur system, once the container lifts off the ground a lot of mass pulls down on the rear end of the truck - in this case the suspension was trying to absorb a 13t load. For dino applications the truck chassis needs to be extra durable due to the extra forces exerted on the structure, otherwise it’ll snap in half. Top gun company truck 224 is seen with a city shopping centre compactor being turned around for tipping.

Today no company runs more dinosaur equipment in Sydney than SUEZ, and collectively it’s probably the biggest operator on a national scale. Beyond fleet numbers is the variety of equipment, with both hoist brands and actual cab chassis choices. In Sydney there are a number of Ivecos, also got Volvo, Fuso, DAF and then there’s this Freightliner. I’m pretty sure if you were to line up all the twin steer dinos, this monster Argosy would stand out from the crowd! This mammoth is one of the subby trucks which operates in the west of Sydney... I’m told the engine on 221 had to be derated as it was guzzling too much diesel.

As I understand it a dinosaur only joined the Mascot fleet back when SITA won the Sydney Airport Corporation contract. Cleanaway held the contract previously, I understand inheriting the job when they bought out Dumpex, which must have had everything set up as only dino compatible. I could swear just once I recall seeing a 08/09 model Cleanaway Iveco dino down at the airport, so I figure that was previously in charge of hauling the numerous mixed waste and quarantine compactors away for emptying. However, truck 222 in this photo took over the fulltime airport dino duties when SITA got the job, being a late 2007 ACCO which was originally built up for the ACT operations. I’ve taken it for a spin a few times myself during the last couple years and it goes good for an old and tired machine that has been worked hard, seen here doing overtime as a back up truck with a hospital packer hanging off the bail. If you look over the cab you will notice the exhaust pipe has been shortened, which was necessary due to a low clearance dock in the airport... it also makes this truck extra loud and deafening to drive, the engine soundwaves vibrate through your head at certain RPMs.

History of Airavatesvara temple

Palaiyarai is ancient temple city and the Capital of the Cholas. King Raja Kambeera Mamannan, Raja Raja Chola II (1146 A.D. to 1172 A.D) changed his capital from Gangaikonda Cholapuram to Palaiyarai and renamed it as Raja Raja Puram (at present it is Darasuram). There were 1000 Thaligal (temples) in palaiyarai .There were 4 padai veedus (Military Camps) on al the four directions of the Capital. Thalicherippendirgal were appointed by the king to develop fine arts especially music and dance in the temple during festival occasions. King Raja Raja II constructed in his name a beautiful temple called Raja Rajechuram (at present Airavatheeswara) in1160 A.D. to 1162 A.D. This Raja Rajechuram (Raja Rajeschuram – Tharechuram – Darachuram -Darasurm) became Darasuram at present. It is a world heritage monument protected by UNESCO.

Mythology :

Airavatham is an elephant (white in colour) and is a vehicle of Indra. It was cursed by sage Durvasa to lose its shining white. Airavatha came to his temple and got its original colour after worshipping the Lord. Hence the deity came to known as Airavatheeswara (the protector or the elephant).

Khon (Thai: โขน) is a genre of dance drama from Thailand. It is traditionally performed solely in the royal court, by men in masks accompanied by narrators and a traditional piphat ensemble. A variation of this genre with female performers is called khon phu ying (โขนผู้หญิง). In Cambodia, the analog of the Khon is a less refined version known as Lakhon khol. In the picture, the dance depicts the story of Ramayana with Sita (right) and Hanuman, the white monkey (left).

Probably one of the nicest dinosaur vehicles running in Australia, I’m happy to say this Volvo is my weekly chariot for some bulk bin action. This truck has done some heavy lifting and transporting over the years, but it’s still going strong. I’ll never forget the comparison between using this productive weapon and those old Volvo bombs that were still running at Watts Waste! Subby truck 236 is seen here doing it proper dino style by flat loading a big cardboard compactor at Sydney airport.

Definitely not the oldest dinosaur running in the Sydney fleet, but it’s the oldest of the Iveco dinos getting around. 220 here has been to hell and back, it got rolled at one point, but they obviously got it back on the road again. Don’t be fooled by that 1990s International badge either, this is a solid 2007 model ACCO. I still recall seeing this truck leave the Wetherill Park yard ages ago, told myself it’d be mad to drive it one day... and well that’s how I came to get this photo! Seen dropping off the domestic packer at a flight catering site in Sydney airport, also a risky dino spot where the packer might slip and shoot itself down the wet and sloppy rails.

Its about time to share with you my main wall at Step In The Arena event that took place in Eindhoven in June. No particular reason for hiding it for so long, just me being me at social updates. Great times at SITA, so many uber talented artist and very good vibes, I look forward to coming back next year.

Since starting at SITA under the St George contract, I have become a permanent and been transferred to the Randwick contract in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. The fleet is parked in an open area out the back of the Rockdale transfer station, but gets moved out the front each afternoon so we conveniently drive straight out the next day. As you can see there’s a heavy presence of MacDonald Johnston and Iveco equipment, with the exception of a Heil body and Hino chassis. All up the fleet comprises of 12 trucks, including a small rear loader, a big rear loader, five standard refuse body side loaders and five larger recycle body side loaders. Most of these trucks are 2007 models, apart from an 06 and two 08, but the main thing is that this is all mean and loud euro 4 equipment =] Also in another shot of mine is SL20, which was once the spare truck for this yard, but that truck recently shit itself and seems to have been substituted with an SPAK called SL84. Currently being the “floater” in this contract, I get to take all of the trucks out for a spin depending on who is off work, otherwise I’m stuck on the two rear loaders in the picture. It’s cool to think these were the first GenVs I ever saw back in 2008 and previously videoed out on the runs... now I am one of the guys operating them! This is one contract I’ve always wanted to work under, so it has been an achievement getting the job.

looking rather tall from my car (which is also lowered btw haha!) as I was on the way home after work & he was on the way to the tip.
