Here's a more colorful version of the South Sister panorama I took last month. It seems like ages ago, especially now that we've gotten some warm sunny weather again. I was hoping for a slightly different angle, but the slope was hard to navigate. It's a lot steeper between me and the water than it appears.

Non sorelle di sangue ..ma sicuramente sorelle di cuore ♥

Not blood sisters .. but certainly heart sisters ♥

Last 5 minutes of warm evening light on the Seven Sisters & coastguard cottages.

You can see where a massive 10 meter chunk of the 250ft high chalk cliff of the fourth of the seven sisters has slipped out into the English Channel earlier in the week - worst land slip here in 50 years apparently according to some.

You can also make out a few people down on the beach to give a sense of scale.

Best not to get too close to the edge up above, or to the cliff face down below unless you've always had a real yearning to be fossilised in the chalk just like an ammonite :)

North and Middle Sisters of Central Oregon's Three Sisters mountains stand proudly in late spring sunlight. In the fore ground new growth spreads like a carpet among a forest of silvered trees made so by a devastating wildfire a few summers ago.

A family resemblance...

How many nights spent observing the Moon.

How many nights he spent in his company.

How many Poems inspired by its light and its charm.

On one of these nights I wanted to pay tribute to her.

Hidden among branches and leaves that appear like birds in love on summer nights, here is Sister Moon, this shot is for you.

Sisters. Family isn't always blood, sometimes it who we choose. Family is also fluid sometimes we are together and sometimes we do our own thing. One thing remains our hearts are always tied together!!

The Aboriginal dream-time legend has it that three sisters, 'Meehni', 'Wimlah' and 'Gunnedoo' lived in the Jamison Valley as members of the Katoomba tribe.

These beautiful young ladies had fallen in love with three brothers from the Nepean tribe, yet tribal law forbade them to marry.

The brothers were not happy to accept this law and so decided to use force to capture the three sisters causing a major tribal battle.

As the lives of the three sisters were seriously in danger, a witchdoctor from the Katoomba tribe took it upon himself to turn the three sisters into stone to protect them from any harm. While he had intended to reverse the spell when the battle was over, the witchdoctor himself was killed. As only he could reverse the spell to return the ladies to their former beauty, the sisters remain in their magnificent rock formation as a reminder of this battle for generations to come.

Each of the Three Sisters stand at 922, 918 & 906 metres tall, respectively.

Another photo from 2008 brought forward while I wallow in my Flickr archives - it's -38C with the wind chill at Keefer Lake right now (but I just put another log on the fire and poured myself a single malt).

Another take on these 'Seven Sisters' in British Columbia is in the first comment box below.

The 'Seven Sisters' are rarely seen in clear weather as in this photo ... typically they are shrouded in rain clouds but they are always beautiful regardless of the weather. This set of peaks are in my 'home region' in British Columbia's coastal range. In a "you couldn't make this stuff up" kind of way ... there is a set of equally spectacular peaks that can be seen from my Mother's birthplace in Norway that are also named the 'Seven Sisters' ... 'Syv Søstre.'

Today, the ranch vet came to examine our future mother. It was a routine visit like every month, we are on her 4th, to see how her gestation is going. We also let her sister keep her company, so she's not too stressed. It's always heart warming to see how those two are watching over each other.
