This is a re-touch of a photo that I shot of my sister in Hawaii last summer. It is for an assignment on The Portfolio:Pro Invitation group called "If I traded it all" based on the song "One Thing" by Finger Eleven.
The first thing I thought of when I read the assignment, was my sister. I remember a while back that she loved this song, and kept trying to find it to download for her iPod and couldn't find it anywhere. But as I thought about the meaning of the assignment I knew I had to include a picture of her.
The one "thing," or in this case, person that I could never live without is Kimberly. She is not only my sister, but my best friend. Sure we had our moments ...especially in high school...when we would curse each others' names, but all that petty kid stuff falls away, and we are left with each other.
My sister is beautiful, my favorite model, talented, and probably the best sister a girl could hope for.
I now live far away from her, and I miss her so much. I keep trying to convince her to move down here near me, but I doubt that will happen. But even though distance keeps us physically apart, I know that we will always be close, and only a phone call, or even a thought away.
I know she's going to read this...and possibly even cry, so to you Kimmey, I love you. If I traded it all, if I gave it all for one thing....it would be you.
Seven Sisters (six remaining) Copt Hill, Houghton le Spring,
County Durham. Older than Stonehenge, the Seven Sisters Round Barrow, Copt Hill, Houghton-le-Spring is a Scheduled Ancient Monument. It was excavated by Canon William Greenwell and Mr Thomas William Usherwood Robinson, gentleman and local landowner, in September 1877. They found several cremated bodies, probably Neolithic, some pots and a small number of flints, possibly Bronze Age, and evidence that the barrow was used for further burials in the Bronze Age. An urn that they found is now in the British Museum
"Three Sisters View:" This cluster of tall red rock spires in Sedona bound together are commonly known as the Three Sisters. If you use some imagination, perhaps you can see them huddled together and taking in the view.

There is someone I love so much,
who is very close to me.
Someone so caring and so sweet,
Thoughtful and kind is she.
Who is there when I need her,
through good times and through bad.
Someone to laugh and share my tears,
The best friend I've ever had.
We have spent many years together,
ups and downs only a few.
Always standing up for me,
as I stand up for you.
So thank you sissy so very much,
one thing I want you to know.
My love will follow you each day,
no matter where you go.

Today my sister turned 25. She has achieved so much already. Amanda has a bright future. I am extremely happy we are close. Life is so much better then you can get along with your siblings.

This is Maya and her little sister, Minnie.
They look like nice little girls on this picture but alas! it didn't last long...

Spring cubs, Coastal Brown Bears (Ursus arctos). Of course, being bear cubs, they spent a lot of time knocking each other around. However, they are sisters, with a strong bond. At the end of the day, they are close. Silver Salmon Creek, Lake Clark National Park, Alaska.

I'm slowly getting getting back on Flickr after a hiatus. Submitted for your approval, we find a beautiful California Sister butterfly resting on a vibrant Single Stem Groundsel. This was captured along Soda Springs Road, on the west slope of the Sierra Nevada.
