My family. A few years ago in Ostuni...
Is incredible the resemblance between my husband and my son,
especially in the attitude of wanting to evaluate each stone of the way ! :))
Now is a time of "clashes" generational ...
not easy, but we know it is a "disease" that goes ...

In Sicily, this term "bagghiu" defines a building or a fortified farm with a large courtyard, and in more recent times, then, only the internal courtyard of the farms.
In the transposition in this city environment, in the similarity of a manor beam with the courtyard closed on all sides, communicating to the outside by means of a large wooden door, here a common door, taking up the traditional scheme, is also built in stone masonry in situ with common mortar and cobblestone flooring and the asymmetrical arch to give the typical connotation.
Consonance in photography refers to the repetition or similarity of visual elements within a photograph, such as color, shape, texture, or pattern. This repetition creates a sense of harmony and unity within the image, drawing the viewer's eye and creating a cohesive visual experience. Consonance can be used to create a sense of rhythm or movement within an image, and can also be used to emphasize certain elements or themes within a photograph.
Some time ago, when I was on the road in the Swabian Alb looking for photo motifs, I noticed the wind turbines and the atmosphere. Just at the moment I was taking pictures, several of the wind turbines were in sync.

Most people will tell you that unicorns don’t exist. But, as is so often the case, once you sink beneath the surface of the ocean, what you know on land no longer applies. The existing unicorn draws its name from the long protrusion on its forehead that it shares with the mythical horse-like beast. However, the similarities end at this “horn”.

This lake is of dimensions (taken at all) smaller than Lake Enol, and its cubic capacity is also lower. Lake La Ercina is at an altitude of 1108 m and its maximum depth is 3 m.
The characteristics of similarity to Lake Enol are linked to its origin (both have a glacial origin) and, of course, its geographical location, since both lakes are separated by the Picota de Enol, with a distance of less than six hundred meters between them.
Named from the similarity of their prominent proboscis that looks like the beak of a snipe. Adults can often be seen sitting on vegetation or on tree trunks waiting to catch and pounce on passing prey. Some species of snipe flies are hematophagous as adults and some are predatory of insects. Larvae develop as predators in the soil and wood detritus. Found in wet meadows, marshes and woodland margins. Can sometimes be know as the Down-Looker Fly as they have the habit of perching head-downward on tree trunks.
The Istra River in the city of Istra, next to the New Jerusalem Monastery ... Below, on the left, is an unbroken bridge, this is a place for swimming on the holiday - Epiphany (in winter). Anyone can swim here at any time.
Istra originates in the Moscow region and in it ends its existence, flowing into the Moscow River. The channel writes complex loops, as if it were not a flat, but a mountain river. This configuration was determined by the hilly landscape. In the upper reaches, the river is connected by the Ekaterininsky Canal with Senezhsky Lake. The length of Istra is only 113 km. It flows into the Moscow River near Zvenigorod.
The width of the river varies from 17 to 30 m. The speed of the current is low. The bottom is sandy. The average water flow is about 12 cubic meters per second. Since Istria is mainly fed by snow, in April the flow increases almost five times. The river has nine small tributaries, including Malaya Istra, Ramenka, Belyan and others.
Istra is a river with experience. It was mentioned in chronicles as early as 1461! In the 16th century it was called Bolshaya Istra. The similarity with Lithuanian and Latvian geographical names allows us to conclude that the name appeared a very long time ago, when the lands of the present western suburbs were inhabited by Baltic tribes. At the beginning of the 19th century, Istra was part of the waterway that ran along the Volga and ended at the Moscow River.
In folk belief, fairies are a collective natural being that at dusk and at sunrise could be seen dancing across meadows, open fields and marshy grounds. In younger traditions, fairies are usually perceived as female beings.
The main role of the fairies is as a cause of disease. A person who had "got the fairies" was often thought to have had the diseases blown onto them by them, and since like cures like, strong counter-blowing, for example with a bellows, was assumed to have a curative effect
The fairies are etymologically related to the elves that appear in Norse mythology. However, the mythological connection is unclear. Even among other Germanic peoples such as the English and Germans, the elves are feminized in medieval folklore and connected with diseases. Similarities can also be noted between the fairies and supernatural beings in the Celtic cultures, for example the Irish sídhe.

The cattle egret (Bubulcus ibis) is a cosmopolitan species of heron (family Ardeidae) found in the tropics, subtropics, and warm-temperate zones. It is the only member of the monotypic genus Bubulcus, although some authorities regard two of its subspecies as full species, the western cattle egret and the eastern cattle egret. Despite the similarities in plumage to the egrets of the genus Egretta, it is more closely related to the herons of Ardea. Originally native to parts of Asia, Africa, and Europe, it has undergone a rapid expansion in its distribution and successfully colonised much of the rest of the world in the last century.
It is a white bird adorned with buff plumes in the breeding season. It nests in colonies, usually near bodies of water and often with other wading birds. The nest is a platform of sticks in trees or shrubs. Cattle egrets exploit drier and open habitats more than other heron species. Their feeding habitats include seasonally inundated grasslands, pastures, farmlands, wetlands, and rice paddies. They often accompany cattle or other large mammals, catching insect and small vertebrate prey disturbed by these animals. Some populations are migratory and others show postbreeding dispersal.
It was a wonderful night! We were having good time conversing and enjoying the beauty of the JBR/Marina views and the colorful lights reflections!
That reminders me of the awesome musical piece by the great composer “Yanni”; the one which was performed live at “The Acropolis” and hence the name!
According to Yanni, the piece was about the quality time he spent with his father and the values he learnt from him.
I guess it was the atmospheric similarity!!!

The whiskered tern (Chlidonias hybrida) is a tern in the family Laridae. The genus name is from Ancient Greek khelidonios, "swallow-like", from khelidon, "swallow". The specific hybridus is Latin for hybrid; Peter Simon Pallas thought it might be a hybrid of white-winged black tern and common tern, writing "Sterna fissipes [Chlidonias leucopterus] et Hirundine [Sterna hirundo] natam".
This bird has a number of geographical races, differing mainly in size and minor plumage details.
C. h. hybrida breeds in warmer parts of Europe and the Palearctic (northwestern Africa and central and southern Europe to southeastern Siberia, eastern China and south to Pakistan and northern India). The smaller-billed and darker C. h. delalandii is found in east and south Africa, and the paler C. h. javanicus from Java to Australia.
The tropical forms are resident, but European and Asian birds winter south to Africa and the Indian Subcontinent.
The scientific name arises from the fact that this, the largest marsh tern, show similarities in appearance to both the white Sterna terns and to black tern.

"...within the apparent randomness of chaotic complex systems, there are underlying patterns, interconnectedness, constant feedback loops, repetition, self-similarity, fractals, and self-organization..."
That partial quote describing Chaos Theory reminds me of how I perceive the generally frenzied takeoff of the starlings and mixed flocks that I've been able to watch out in the countryside in the moments where they are alerted to danger and instantaneously flee the location and self organize.
In this instance, the explosion out of water and seemingly chaotic flight all seemed to right itself in a matter of moments and they made their way back to the pond and continued bathing.
Thanks to all that visit!
I show you the progression of the Origami Spiny Anteater by Steven Casey (made these photos while I was folding this model.) He was inspired by John Richardson's hedgehog.
It is interesting to see, and to fold of course ;-)), how he treads the layers/pleats differently.
Here you see the "in-between-step" of John Richardson's hedgehog, which shows similarity with photo 1.

Even though there is alot of similarities to other coua's - this is the Giant Coua which we managed to find while walking the trails in the Berenty Reserve of south east Madagascar.
This bird is recognizable due to its much larger size and rufous belly. It is a bird that likes to walk the dry forest floor.

In the south, cardinals are often called ‘redbirds’ and it is easy to see why. With their bright red plumage, black mask, and prominent crest, the male cardinal is difficult to confuse with any other bird. Females are brown with a reddish wash on wings and the tail. Cardinals are abundant and widespread in woodlands, and a common bird at feeders in residential areas.
Cardinals are typically the first bird to visit feeders in the morning and the last to visit in the evenings.
The Northern Cardinal’s name dates back to the time of the United States founding colonists, stemming from the similarity of the males’ vibrant red plumage to the red biretta and vestments of distinguishable Catholic cardinals.
Northern Cardinals are classified as granivorous animals because they live on a diet consisting of mostly seeds. Their short, stout, cone-shaped beaks are specially designed to crack open the hulls on seeds and shells on nuts.
Occasionally, a lack of the typical red pigment in the plumage occurs and is replaced by vibrant yellow or orangish pigments, which results in a yellow cardinal. The appearance of vibrant yellow Northern Cardinals is typically caused by a genetic plumage variation called xanthochroism.
Contradictory to many other songbirds, Northern Cardinals are mostly a non-migratory species, opting to overwinter in their chosen spring/summer habitat.
I found this male in my backyard in Polk County, Florida.
I was waiting for this weekend to come since I booked my trip to Greece back in February. A couple of years ago, I set a goal for my vacation in Greece. Since I am coming every summer, I will try to visit a different island each year. Last year it was Serifos, this year is Sifnos! both of them belong to the Cyclades and they have many similarities in terms of scenery and architecture. But for me, each one is different. I took this photo at the village of Kastro, probably the most picturesque place of the entire island. The village is located at the top of the hill with many small bars and restaurants scattered inside it. Totally worth spending a few hours to walk all over it and explore it. Especially if you like the traditional cycladic architecture.

Well, this scene has been compared to Union Square in NYC (which this is) with the unevenly sized buildings. In a way there are some similarities like the political demonstrations and statues (which are usually seen on the left of this shot in the park, not here) that are in both places, but dissimilarities in the buildings for sure. The Nelson's Column in Trafalgar Square reminds me of a similar column we have of Christopher Columbus, but at Columbus Circle way north of here.See Tags.
For the SoS group: "Blue for You - ME 2021"
This is a good time to highlight ME - or Post-Viral Syndrome as I think of it. Long Covid is the most recent manifestation of the devastation that viral infections can leave in their wake, enduring long after the initial virus has departed. Reading descriptions of Long Covid I find so many nods of recognition, see so many similarities.
When Maria first introduced me to this theme in 2019 I decided to "come out of the closet" and write about my own decades of struggling with ME/PVS Here. And I've written more extensively on my Blog M.E. and me.
It is an area that has been neglected, overlooked, ridiculed, and even dismissed as non-existent. But by tapping into the resource of the existing millions around the world who have been trying to find a way to live with the aftermath of viral infections, maybe the road to recovery (or a way to live with the new reality) will prove to be shorter and less devastating!
Thank you, Maria, for including this topic - and reminding us all that May 12th is a day of special importance!
Have happy and safe weekend 😊

Star anise is a spice made from the fruit of the Chinese evergreen tree Illicium verum.
It’s aptly named for the star-shaped pods from which the spice seeds are harvested and has a flavor that is reminiscent of licorice.
Because of similarities in their flavor and names, star anise is often confused with anise, though the two spices are unrelated.
Star anise is famed not only for its distinct flavor and culinary applications but also for its medicinal benefits.

Young snake (Natrix maura) crawling on the grass.
Natrix maura is a natricine water snake of the genus Natrix. Its common name is viperine water snake or viperine snake. Despite its common names, it is not a member of the subfamily Viperinae. This nonvenomous, semiaquatic, fish-eating snake was given its common names due to behavioural and aesthetic similarities with sympatric adder species.
