GG is a shop cat at the Dream Pirate Gallery in Grand Rapids. This is the same young cat that I posted a few months ago, when she was in the front window of the shop.

Saint-Paul

or Saint-Paul-de-Vence (in Occitan: Sant Pau) is a commune in the Alpes-Maritimes department in southeastern France. One of the oldest medieval towns on the French Riviera, it is well known for its modern and contemporary art museums and galleries such as Fondation Maeght which is located nearby.

UP's J.R. Davis Yard in Roseville, CA hosts a shop complex where units from all over the west come to get heavy repairs done. Due to this, it is not uncommon to see locomotives moving in, out, and around the shops all through the day and night.

On this evening, the shop switcher was UP 6902, an AC4460CW. This unit is typically not seen running around by itself, as if you look closely, there is a clear lack of PTC. At the time, this was a common thing to see on the 6800 and 6900 series AC4460s, so to see it running around with a crew in the cab was a treat even though it wasn't on the road.

As a crew member gets off of the unit, the smoky, evening golden light is illuminating the train. After eventually getting back on the unit, the locomotive would roll forward to grab a couple other motors before sending them to another shop bay. I'm glad to have captured this when I did, as in 2023 the remaining AC4460s were rebuilt into C44ACMs, and with the addition of a whole new front. The 6902 was one of the first to go, coming out of Wabtec's Fort Worth facility in March of 2023 with a new paint scheme and rebuilt.

The Trailhead Bicycle Company UK's first shop ride the year. About 25 of us made the dash through Shelve Woods and the climb up Corndon Hill on the English/Welsh border. Resting for the views and sunset before the (for me) white knuckle descent and return to cars and vans.

I managed to take this shot while the shop keeper was lost in thought. After I showed him the picture, he let me take a few more shots, but 'posed', which I might upload another day.

Pictured outside the UP shops in Omaha, Nebraska, UPMW 903999 is a 44-ton locomotive built as GE demonstrator No. 1399 in 1947.

It was sold by GE to the Union Pacific on March 28, 1947. Between 1956 and 1972, it served as the shop switcher in Pocatello, Idaho.

By the end of 1972, it was sent to Omaha for a complete rebuild. By February of the following year, it began its new role as the shop switcher in Omaha until retirement in 1974.

I like the Zen-like atmosphere ... and I still do love the (sometimes quirky) rendering of the MOG Oreston

... and now this seems to be an ode to vintage lenses <3
