This is a sunrise in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I photoshopped the crescent moon into the image. This is the Atlantic Ocean at sunrise.
South Carolina, a state steeped in history and tradition, is engulfed in dramatic beauty. From the rolling hills of the Piedmont to the thrilling expanse of its coastline, South Carolina hypnotizes visitors with its captivating charm. The land whispers faintly about significant battles fought on her soil and the turmoil of revolution that shapes it today. Yet amid the chaos is incredible resilience and determination; a testament to its thriving economy due to robust tourism, agriculture, and industries like manufacturing, healthcare, and finance. Its bustling cities of Charleston, Columbia, and Greenville offer a haven for commerce while reminders of tragic events such as Hurricane Hugo's wrath loom. South Carolina flaunts breathtaking sunsets over Lake Jocassee while historic Huguenot Church's belfry chimes out cultural history reminding one of the ways that this little piece of heaven offers something different for everyone but always manages to captivate your heart forever.
South Carolina became the 8th state on May 23, 1788.

owner of Denton Camera Exchange, checking out a Rollei TLR I borrowed from a buddy. Great store run by a great guy. Someone recently did a mini-documentary about him that made the rounds on some photoblogs. vimeo.com/118888481
Celebrating Christmas in Downtown Baker City Oregon
Enjoying the holiday festivities in downtown Baker City including the COVID modified CASA Classic Christmas Gingerbread Tour of Homes. Lots of amazing gingerbread recreations of some of Baker City’s most iconic homes and buildings on display in downtown storefront windows for the month of December. And, there’s a ginger bread man scavenger hunt as well.
Baker City, Oregon’s historic downtown is one of the largest and most intact turn of the 20th century downtowns in the Northwest and is surrounded by historic neighborhoods. The downtown has been beautifully restored and revitalized over the years and is a vibrant and bustling district with lots of small locally owned shop. Throughout the year, and especially during the holiday season, the downtown hosts a number of festive celebrations and is simply a perfect backdrop for celebrating Christmas on Main Street

Today is "Small Business Saturday" here in the U.S. where the idea is for everyone who is out and about doing their holiday shopping to buy at least one thing from a smaller independent shop, a one-of-a-kind mom-and-pop type place instead of those big chain stores. Luckily, they have lots of great selections where I live and I prefer to shop at these stores anyways but I hope others do the same... it does wonders for folks trying to make a go of their dream during these difficult economic times. This photo is a window display at one of my favorite shops (I fell in love with the colors).
Yesterday I decided to boycott Black Friday (the insane shopping day in the U.S.) and opted for a bit of pampering and a massage at my favorite spa. I've got a lot of upper back/neck pain and the 1-hour deep tissue massage I got was aaaahhhh....mazing (although today I'm feeling it... my muscles feel bruised and sore but it's so worth it to get out all those kinks and knots).
Wishing everyone a great Saturday and remember "shop-small-buy-local" if you're out and about!! :-)
