"Well he used to be somebody
And now he's someone else
Took apart his old life
Left it on the shelf
Sick of being someone
He did not admire
Took up all his old things
Set em all on fire"
Shot in today's workshop with the inspirational and completely awesome Tim Andrews.
From Tim:
“I was born in London years ago and, in 2005, I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. I was a solicitor for 29 years but had to retire in June 2006 and since then I have had the freedom to indulge my many interests which include watching cricket, going to the cinema, writing and taking photographs. I am also collaborating with a number of different photographers on an artistic venture, which examines my life at this time. I am an incredibly happy man, happier than I have ever been before. Ironically, Parkinson’s disease has given me a new lease of life. I feel very blessed.”
Tim was absolutely wonderful. He allowed me to take any kind of portrait of him I wanted - to do with his struggles, life and illness or not. I decided to take a lighthearted approach - Tim has overcome so much and is most definitely not a victim. His strength, humor and approach are just plain brilliant. So I wanted to depict it all as a blip - a mere splatter of bird poop, something you can choose to wipe away, and then carry right on - seeing a bit more of life than before.
Thanks Tim for being awesome. If you would like to photograph Tim - get in touch with him! He's been photographed by over 160 photographers currently (and I'm pretty sure our workshop tipped him into the 170s!).

completely stuck in Camdeboo National Park
following an grassy track all in a sudden we came to an harmless looking mud pitch ... that's why we did not have enough momentum to get to the far side and got completely stuck , not a cm forward or backwards even with all diff locks engaged. The mud was so greasy, that the tread of the tyres have been completely filled and useless ... Very bad situation in an completely remote place where you can't hope for help anytime soon and no cellphone connection ...
Luckily I had my sandtracks packed and with these we were able to help ourselfes relatively easy out of the shit (which it really was ;-))) )

This adorable lady was busy working "cleaning bird shit" as I heard her describe. She happened to spy me spying her. After the shot she covered her face and then smiled at me in recognition.
This is a highly predatory Leopard Seal that eats penguins and other seals, but like many Antarctic creatures it also eats a lot of krill, which makes its shit red. So that red colouration on its chin is excrement rather than blood, and you can see the evidence. You can also see the spotted pelage which gave rise to the name leopard. But their most distinctive feature is their huge mouth that opens like a moray eel, or even a T rex. Its scientific name Hydrurga leptonyx translates as water worker with thin claws.
The WSOR T1 departs Clearing Yard behind a pair of SD40-2s, the leader of which is one of relatively few remaining former Rock Island units still active on the road today.
