After following Mennonite buggies around for awhile we were trying to find our way back to the course we had decided on for the day. Passed these super shiny silos doing that. Don't know what they are for and Google was not helpful today but what I do know is that they will get your attention when the sunshine hits them! ;)

Falkirk Wheel visitor centre. It was hot inside. Contains a large restaurant, gift shop, information and lots of loos. Moored in front is the pink barge that takes people up and down on the wheel.
I finally got a close up, although not as clear because through glass...I will keep trying!

The Shiny Cowbird, like the other members of the genus Molothrus (including Brown-headed Cowbird [M. ater] which occurs in Canada), is a brood parasite. This is a behaviour in which the eggs are placed in the nests of other species, which sometimes respond against this intrusion, but which often incubate the dumped eggs and raise the Cowbird young. This is often to the detriment of the host species, whose own young may be displaced by the Cowbird nestlings (which are often much larger than even the adult hosts). Nature sometimes operates in what seems like strange ways to humans, but for Cowbirds this is believed to be an adaptation to a nomadic lifestyle following food sources and thus not wanting to be “tied down” by parental duties at a particular location. This male with its glossy plumage (females are a subdued brown) was seen at the Jardin Encantado in the small town of San Francisco near Bogota, Colombia. The species occurs through most of South America.

Another one from my archives. The Shiny Cowbird originates from South America but it's has also recently colonised the Carribbean Islands and parts of the USA. It's a parasitic species laying its eggs in the nests of other birds. Sometimes the host's eggs are removed but not always, the incubation period is shorter than most of the host species.
Al the gator basked somnolently in the still morning air, the sun reflecting brightly off his shiny foreleg scales...
For 122 pictures in 2022 #92 "Shiny", this was taken at the Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center in Port Aransas, Texas. He lives in the marsh beneath the boardwalk, amidst thousands (usually) of birds of many species. At the moment most seem to have gone north for the summer.
Shiny light reflections on the tunnels of Bank tube station in Central London. I haven't used the tube very much at all since lockdown started, but on the few occasions I did I was struck by how empty it was.
...and a little disappointing. I'm a big fan of a spartan cab EMD, so when the SD70s started the SD70ACC rebuild program I was a bit sad. Engine No. 1807 is fresh out of the shop, and led train 38Q across the Commonwealth earlier this week. They are only this clean once, so I got out to shoot the clean rebuilt leader.
I do love the clean rear end of the non-flared EMDs, so I can't hate these too much, but really, LOVE LIVE THE SPARTAN CAB.
Sometimes you just need to dress how you feel.... and sometimes you need to feel how you dress. So, you know -- it's Friday... time to feel sparkly.
