I finished installing the shelf today- it was not as hard as I remembered it to be. Now almost everything has a home and a place to belong.
My mom wanted some pictures of the new shelf in the kitchen, and I got all faaaaaaaaaaaancy with this one.

A board screwed to the top of the legs and a shelf ledger screwed towards the bottom keep the legs in place. Again...mortise and tenons are preferred. Shelf is old barn siding.
My dad insists if you find these mushrooms fresh enough, they are edible. All I know is they look really cool with water drops clinging to them. I think they are water bottles for faeries, actually.

When I got my first piece of stainless cookware, it lived in the cabinet with all the rest of my pots and pans. But as more pieces were added to my collection, we started to think about hanging them like many people do. But we had a nice piece of oak that made a great shelf over our kitchen window and my stainless cookware found a permanent home on a shelf.
One of the reasons we love our house is that the view from the back yard is nothing but forest as far as the eye can see. That is, until a couple of weeks ago, when clearing began to make way for a metal scrap yard. It doesn't appear to encroaching right up to our property line, but it has destroyed our view, and our days are filled with the sounds of dozens of bulldozers that beep when they back up (which is constantly).
And now, the view which was once trees is replaced by a big dirt hill, soon to be full of old metal junk.
I can only hope that once the leaves come back on the trees that are still standing, we won't be able to see it any more.
