Imagine discovering your lawn has an 800lb ornament like this big fellow. A herd of Roosevelt Elk moved into a tiny village on Vancouver Island where neighbours are friendly. It is a comfortable, safe place away from hunters, poachers and highway traffic. Pretty smart Elk don't you think? The locals have named a few from the herd I photographer Bob, Mr Hollywood and I believe this is Ted. I spoke with local residents and listen to their stories of the Elk's mishaps with clothesline and garden fences then watched one couple have their daily chat with Bob from their second-story balcony. my website www.melanieleesonphotography.com/
I got him a new hat from Baby Gap and just had to get a pic of him. He wasn't in the best mood, which is why he looks so serious lol. I'll have to try again tomorrow ;)
I've recently spent a lot of time photographing these guys 'n gals, and whilst it is undoubtedly a dangerous sport, this chap is obviously having so much fun!

Tasku knows covid-19 is serious - the lockdown means no runs in the forest!
On the side of the road were a few of these monsters waiting for dinner. I came back with my camera and got as close as my arachnophobia would allow. After setting up the lighting and taking a few shots with my face in the viewfinder, she bolted. I don't know if the sound I made could be considered a scream as I fell backwards into the gutter but it was close. HMFM
A female Scottish Terrier dog from the park, I didn't asked her name to the owner. This dog was adorable and walking a little slow, compared to her owner, maybe because of her short legs. The sun makes her hair looks brown but it was black.
A Scarlet macaw (Ara macao) getting down to the serious business of preening and rezipping its tail feathers, Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica.
