Chicago Great Western 26 rolls a vintage selection of freight cars below Daytons Bluff at St. Paul, MN on 09-23-1972. Built in June of 1948, this NW2 was renumbered to the C&NW 1029 in 1973.
Detail from the installation 'How the Artist Was Led to the Study of Nature' in the exhibition Natural Selection at the Towner Gallery in Eastbourne. The exhibition is a collaboration between father and son Andy and Peter Holden focusing on birds' nests and birds' eggs. This work replicates in painted porcelain a hoard of 7,130 eggs, largely of endangered birds, collected illegally and subsequently destroyed by the RSPB after the collector's conviction.
I love to see sailboats like the center one with lots of well cared for varnished mahogany. The sloop on the right is a Port Townsend design called a thunderbird. It is fairly easy to build from plywood and it sails well. The bit of boat in the foreground is a wee sailboat carried on the Adventuress schooner. This photo was taken from Adventuress at Port Townsend's Wooden Boat Festival: nwmaritime.org/events/wooden-boat-festival/.
