I have mixed feelings about London. It's full of fun activities and great architecture but it's so full of people. Often scary people. I don't have the inner strength to cope for longer than a few hours really and this was one such time. While it was an overnight stay in a hotel, I ventured out only twice: once into the City and another over to Southwark.

A rare almost-sunset shot for me here, as I stared out at the window watching the lights slowly turn on against the lessening light. I focused in on the Shard as it's one of my favourite buildings. The lighter surface on the side? Beautiful.

The Chicago River with its line of drawbridges is so iconic... You just know it's Chicago. The best views can be found from the rooftop bar of LondonHouse Chicago, even on a cloudy, foggy day.
