I've loved butterflies ever since my first walks in local country lanes in the West Midlands when I was a child. there seemed to be so many in those days , the grasslands and open spaces were always full with a graceful fluttering between the flowers. Later in life I was lucky enough to be able to get involved in the management and surveying of butterflies, especially fritillaries. This has been a. joy and has meant every summer there is something special to look forward to, like those first walks down sunny lanes as a child. Secret Heart is by Ron Sexsmith, and is perfect for this heart shaped pair of Small Pearl Bordered Fritillaries in the Alun Valley.

As I climbed the last mountain, Lake Shasta Reservoir way down the valley to my left, I caught a glimpse of a waterfall to my right, set back in the woods. I pulled off the road a hundred yards later, and decided I'd go take a look even though it was lightly raining. This small set of waterfalls was about 75 feet back from the road. I'm sure it's dry in the summer, but California has had so much rain, even the reservoir is completely full after years of drought. Anyway, kinda surprised I saw this from the road, trees have it almost completely concealed.

I found this beach on an Internet article about beaches in and around Brookings, Oregon. It's not easy to find and we actually passed the unmarked parking area a couple of times before we located it.
The parking area is 1/3 of a mile south of mile marker 345 on Highway 101, and is partially obscured as you are headed north by a guardrail. The hike down to the beach is very steep, good shoes or sneakers are a must, and probably not terribly safe on a wet day. Definitely worthwhile and someplace I want to get back to for a sunset.
After the pickup at Sheldon, it’s a straight shot for the KBS to Lafayette as they pass Midwest Skyscrapers and the water tower - both of the tallest things you find in town - in Fowler, Indiana
