SDO is the most advanced spacecraft ever designed to study the sun and its dynamic behavior. The spacecraft will provide images with clarity ten times better than high definition television and more comprehensive science data faster than any solar observing spacecraft in history.
Three images from SDO of different wavelengths combined into a single CMYK image of the Sun. In this image, the colors are not necessarily representative of reality as I didn't worry about which image had which wavelength when I created the combined image.
SDO image of an X3 solar flare (the bright spot at the 8:00 o'clock position on the sun) the occurred recently (relative to this post).
