April 22, 2017: A Canadian National standard cab SD70 EMD engine leads a pair of Norfolk Southern EMD's (SD70, SD70ACe), as they pull Norfolk Southern grain train NS 46Z Southbound through the rural countryside in the unincorporated community of Brice in Silver Creek, GA on a sunny spring morning in Northwest Georgia.

PRLX SD70ACe 4834 gets moved off of one of the engine tracks in order for another unit to move in front of it. The 4834 was "modified" in Buffalo with C&O lettering on the nose and long hood.
Union Pacific SD70ACe No. 8477 brings up the rear of Public Service of Colorado coal empties as the train races by Finger Rock near Yampa, Colorado along UP's Moffat Tunnel Subdivision/Craig Branch on October 1, 2016. The train will get a new crew up ahead at Phippsburg and they'll take it to Energy Mine to be loaded once again.

A duo of Ferromex ACes lead a grain train east through Ormonde, IL, bound for the CSX. Radio issues forced the 4042 to be removed from the lead in Galesburg.
SD70ACe BNSF 9142 leads a loaded grain train over the CSX Erie West Sub as CSX G053, heading east at Bort Road in North East, Pennsylvania. The train was received from BNSF in Cicero and is bound for Selkirk, New York.

KCS Westbound Intermodal Train I-ATDA/I167 passes through Meehan Jct., MS. on their way to Dallas, TX. from Atlanta, GA. with KCS SD70ACe 4006 leading the way, which is specially painted to honor our Veterans.
BNSF SD70ACe No. 8519 leads an eastbound train of coal empties out of the twin tunnels west of Garrison, MT. Montana Rail Link runs on the former Northern Pacific mainline, along which the long lost Milwaukee Road once paralleled through much of Montana. In the background, the remains of this former electrified line can be seen, with its single tunnel portal visible above the train. 01 May 2023.

NS SD70ACe 1161 has a westbound stack train behind it as it does track speed through Duncannon, PA on the eastern end of the Pittsburgh Line. The Fall colors and overcast weather would probably be my ideal shooting conditions, hands down.
February 28, 2020: A trio of Norfolk Southern SD70ACe EMD engines, with the Jersey Central Heritage Unit running 3rd, speed over the Tallapoosa River Bridge in the unincorporated community of Hooper near Tallapoosa, GA. The engines are pulling Norfolk Southern freight train NS 187 (Macon, GA-Irondale, AL) Westbound.

February 1, 2016: Northbound Autorack Train NS 276 (Jacksonville, FL - Princeton, IN) creeps around the bend at Mableton, GA with the "Virginian" heritage engine on the point. The train will stop here to allow a Southbound grain train to pass by before continuing its run North.

SD70ACe PRLX 8903 is on a CSX transfer train in Memphis at Union Pacific Sargent Yard. This EMD formerly ran the rails as CSXT 8903.
After a meet with E SUDSCM1 10A at Sentinel Butte Siding, C ABMBEN0 91A leaves the small North Dakotan town of the same name in its wake as it heads east into the Little Missouri Bad Lands. The train of sub-bituminous coal was loaded at the Absaloka Mine in Montana for a Northern States Power Plant in Minnesota.
Union Pacific SD70ACe #8780 leads a westbound intermodal on the old C&NW west of Norway, IA, as the sun begins to set.

KCS SD70ACe 4120 Sits Idle Awaiting Its Duties As A Helper For The Mountains. Geddis Usually Has Cool Stuff Hanging About Since They Are Second Unit Setoffs.
Loaded coal train NS 732 crosses over Highland Street in Memphis with Montana Rail Link MRL 4315, an SD70ACe, second in line on the NS Memphis District West End.
Reportedly now all off of CSX's roster and returned to Progress Rail, in the winter of 2022 SD70ACe-T4 CSXT 8903 is solo power on CN 327 at Dorval. CSX only had ten of these.
The tunnel formed by the trees over the NS/CSX interchange track made a fun shot. I have been trying to catch one of the NS trains on this trackage for years and have just missed several times, but finally and with a visiting locomotive.

UP SD70ACe-T4 number 3084 leads the POACB over the Sacramento River in Redding, CA. It's been a dry year here, but near the river you would never know it. The spring greens here are still holding up well, but further away from water things are already starting to brown up.

This poor crew has to endure a "thundercab", the absolute worst modern cab. Here it is running eastbound along UP's Geneva sub just after sunrise, with both ACe's in notch 8. MNPAH 11, 8314,8769.
