SCUBA/3-day Kayak week has begun! For the next 3 days half of campus will be getting Open Water SCUBA certified and the other half will be out Kayaking-- on Monday, they'll switch!

The Summer 2014 students are on their way to getting their PADI Open Water dive certification.

Originally known as the Christian Quarry, this pit was created by rock quarrying at this site in the early-to-mid 20th Century, eventually reaching a depth of over 200 feet. After the cessation of quarry operations after World War II, the quarry slowly began to fill with water from natural springs in the area, and by 1994, had been filled to a maximum depth of 127 feet at the deepest portion of the quarry. The quarry was purchased that year by the Tapp family, and turned into the Pennyroyal Scuba Center Blue Springs Resort, which features good visibility, a variety of underwater objects, items, and vehicles for divers to find and interact with, a population of fish, and a dive shop, office, camping area, restrooms, lockers, pavilions, and a small food stand on the surface. The quarry is popular with scuba divers in the region for the quality of the experience, and sees heavy attendance in the warmer months.

It is possible to dive in Bangkok! Planet Scuba is the sole operator organising shark dives at Siam Ocean World Aquarium located in Siam Paragon Shopping Mall. The dive takes place in the main tank containing over 20 Grey Reef Sharks (Sandtiger), Leopard Sharks, Black Tip Reef Sharks & Tawny Nurse Sharks, as well as Rays, Snappers, Cobias, Trevally and many other kinds of marine life.
