We're kind of old now, so we planned to do the drive out to Colorado over two days instead of all in one shot. This meant stopping for the night in Lincoln, Nebraska, which we made by dinner time. This allowed us time for a diversion, and I'd always wanted to follow the brown sign on the interstate pointing us to Schramm State Park, so on a whim, that's what we did.
I didn't know anything about Schramm State Park. I've just always liked the name of the place on the sign. It sounds exactly like the kind of sentiment you'd expect from a state park in Nebraska. "You want to see our state park. TOO BAD! SCRAM!" Only it's Nebraska, and they're all descended from Germans out there, so they spell it weird.
Editor's Note: If you want a general idea for the agenda of this trip, it's two days out, two days there, and two days back. We went entirely so I could hang out for a little while with my daughter, the third of my four children, who lives in Colorado Springs.
