This duck was one of several males flying into a scram that took place right in front of me, one of two I saw. I am still thinking how to share the ~300 image I shot documenting males fighting over a single female... crazy thing to watch, let alone right in front of your lens. this story later, one i figure our the story telling format.
Ey! Lookit youse, wanderin’ around da pawk lookin’ lost as a pigeon in a windstawm. You want cannolis? At Ferrara's? Alright, pin ya ears back and listen up. I ain’t got all day, I got a nap scheduled on a warm manhole cova. First t'ing, you wawk outta Washington Square down MacDougal. Don't mind da guy feedin’ da squirrels, dem rats wit' fluffy tails ain't worth ya time. Take a left on Bleecker, past all dem fancy cawfee joints none of ‘em give out decent milk saucers anyway.
Hang a right on Broadway. Youse gonna wawk straight down, past Houston Street and it’s 'How-ston', not 'Hue-ston', alright? Keep hoofin' it south t'rough Soho. Dodge da tourists, dodge da little yappy dogs in sweatahs absolute disgrace to da animal kingdom, if ya ask me.
When you hit Grand Street, hang a left. You wawk a few blocks, past Mulberry. When ya smell da sugared ricotta and da espresso, boom, you’re dere. Ferrara's. Now go get ya pignoli cookies, and do me a solid, t'row a piece of sfogliatella near da green garbage can on ya way out. Tell ‘em Tommy Two-Paws sent ya. Now scram!"
(And this is what happens when I take a day off. Hope you all enjoy)
In case it isn’t obvious, if you look at Istariël’s foot front left foot, looks a bit like she’s giving directions (or maybe that is just me 😜). Hope you all enjoy.
On September 22, 2014, Going To The Sun Highway was due to shut down at 7 AM for the season, with a very good chance that it might not open again until late June or early July. This was one of the reasons that all five of us were up there shooting the Milky Way until all hours of the night. We were definitely one of the last cars to come down from Logan Pass that night as we started shooting behind the Logan Pass Visitor's Center and then worked our way slowly back out of the park, stopping for views of the Southern Sky as we headed back to lake McDonald.
We weren't quite sure what we would find in terms of the Milky Way other than one or two shots that we found online over Hidden Lake. As another long hike out to Hidden Lake was out of the question (some of us could barely move after 4 days of waking up at 4:30 AM, scree scrams, and long hikes) we opted to shoot over Reynolds Mountain, which would still give us a decent view of the Southern sky. When the Milky Way finally showed up, it was truly spectacular. We hadn't realized how strong the air glow effect was that night until we started zooming in on our LCD screens which showed streaks of green and red along the horizon behind Reynolds.
After shooting with the group for a while, I began to wonder if I could find a different foreground. I finally headed back to the parking lot where I noticed that the Milky Way was now halfway between Reynolds and the Visitor's Center. I quickly set up my tripod and took a few more shots before the group came back. (The light on the visitor's center is from cars passing on the road.) When everyone was back, we headed slowly back down, pulling over for more shots of the Milky Way as we drove back to Lake McDonald.
By 7 AM the next morning, the pass was officially closed and work had begun on resurfacing the road before the big Winter storms were due to arrive. (It usually takes until mid June to finally clear out the massive amount of snow and avalanche debris that comes down around the pass each year.)
Two new lambs talking together, I wonder what they are saying ?.... probably something like .... Ba, ba, ba, which translates to probably .... It's rather chilly up here, good job we have fluffy fleece!
The other one probably said .... Ba, ba, ba, ba, but I better not try and translate that one, Ha, ha, 🐑🐑
Wooly Lamb
I'm a fan of the wooly ram,
farmers coming, let's scram,
before he puts us in his van,
next stop it's Birmingham,
that farmers the bogeyman,
he even ate my old nan,
off now on the lam,
I'm a little lamb not ham,
bye, bye bad farmer man.

Love & Peace everyone!
A Neighbor's Cat. Black and standoffish. However, this day she decided to stay awhile in the hope that I would rapidly disappear. Quickly took my shot and scrammed.
(I do appreciate my neighbor putting a bright collar and bell on her cat.)
and then you just scram!
The battles of the Pine Siskins has begun. This is the first in a series of these two fighting over spots on the feeder. I'll post more later.
Another early start to Bushy Park this morning..all sorts going on, even this young stag thought he was old enough!.. she told him ...scram! loads going on especially after a lovely bacon roll and hot chocolate, then off again until after lunch time. even had the big boy swimming through the lake and lots of bellowing

Thought it would be a good idea to take my camera with me, when collecting my bike from the train station late last night. Turns out I was right! Found a very curious fox indeed :-)
Moments after this I noticed I had company so decided to scram.
Our Jack-o-Lantern Goodie Bowls in our Harvest Fest are a big hit with our backyard visitors. Loaded with a variety of whole and shelled nuts, what's not to like?
The squirrels come, reach in, grab something and then scram! Sometimes, when they grab something big like a walnut, they pause long enough to get a better grip before they speed off. That pause gives me just enough of a chance to grab a quick shot or two.
We've noticed they burry most of what they find, but sometimes they just have to gobble up those goodies right then instead of burying them.
finally able to get a few photos of a blue jay today! these guys are so fast and scram whenever someone approaches, especially with a camera.

There have probably been some up last week as all the restrictions loosened, but this is the first one I've seen.
It's nice to see, but I worry about the balloonists and their passengers being in such proximity. I'm thinking not just within the gondola but also the crews setting up and the chase crews in their vehicles.
This morning I again went into the nearby arroyo, which becomes gentrified pretty quickly as one walks south. I hadn't thought about it but being Sunday there were many more people about on the paved paths than what I've seen on weekdays.
No one was wearing a mask but me.
There were folks running and bicycling and walking. Not one had a mask. There were family groups. Not one with a mask.
People breathing strongly from exercise were passing within a foot or two of each other.
I quickly scrammed out of there.
Guess I was getting a little too close for comfort. In my defense, I didn't even know she was there until I came around a fence, so I just took the shot and walked away.
CHAINED UP IN MY ENDING MOMENTS,
I GIVE IT MY ALL, TO BREAK FREE
TEARS STREAMING DOWN MY FACE
AS I SEE THAT, ONE OF MY WINGS HAS BEEN TORN FROM ME
MY BODY IS A BLOODIED MESS
AND, MY MUSCLES ACHING IN EXTREME
I GO TO FIND MY OWN VOICE
AS I TRY TO BEG FOR MERCY, OR TRY TO SCRAM SCREAM
WHAT HAS HAPPENED? WHO DID THIS?
ARE THE QUESTIONS, THAT PLAY THROUGH MY HEAD
IS THIS A NIGHTMARE THAT I AM HAVING?
OR HAVE I BEEN FORSAKEN, INSTEAD?
MY MIND IS IN A WHIRLPOOL
AS I FEEL MYSELF GETTING WEAK
"JUST HOLD ON", I TELL MYSELF
AS I HEAR THE WORDS WHISPERED BACK, "RELEASE"
I LIFT UP, TO SEE WHO MUTTERED THOSE WORDS
AND, EVERYTHING COMES CHRYSTAL CLEAR, TO ME
I WAS ALONE, AND MY OWN THOUGHTS THAT WERE RESURFACING
AS I REMEMBERED PLEADING TO BE FREE OF, DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY.

Roseate spoonbills were picky about which birds they shared perches with, part of the whole breeding season behavior in spring 2011.
