[a satire of actual conversation snippets, said to me by folks being entirely serious.]
Support your government
They’re not to blame
Go about your business
Let the boys have their war game
Put on some lipstick
You’ll feel better
Stop reading the news
Don’t write your silly letters
No one listens to people like you
Go hug a tree
There’s not much else you can do
Don’t talk bad about the president
We don’t know where those W.O.M.D.’s went
[and who cares that he’s raping the environment]
God gave us this land
And He’ll take it back
Why not buy a new dress
It’ll help make up for what you lack
Think for yourself, don’t be a hippy
You walk around thinking everything’s trippy
Who cares about the homeless and the poor
You don’t live in the streets
What are you worried for?
If we let gays get married, what’s next,
A farmer can marry his horse?
Man shall not lie down with man
It’s in the bible, of course!
Get on with your life
You got so much to give
Besides we’re over there
To show them how to live
Republican Democrat,
It’s all the same.
If you haven't figured that out yet
You only have yourself to blame.

HBM – Happy Bench Monday
Just a little political satire …

than to speak out and remove all doubt.”

THE TIMES THEY ARE A-CHANGIN' – BOB DYLAN
Boris and Liz
sitting on a bench
one dressed as a pirate
the other in their underpants
handing over power
is never an easy thing
but tomorrow in the Highlands
they'll stand before the Queen
wonder how that journey goes
wondering what they'll say
Boris with his hair askew
Liz with Cheshire grin, and they
hesitate to talk about
the elephant in the room
the crisis of the cost of living
they'll need a hefty broom
to sweep the heap beneath the carpet
with all their might they'll try
but Liz apparently up her sleeve
has a 'bold plan' by and by
the energy crisis is paramount
on her, as yet, unknown agenda
what will Boris do now, I think
host a party; go on a bender
I'll sit back and watch the antics
of this latest political circus
perhaps dear Liz's bag of tricks
will materialise and surprise us
Heaven knows come Winter
how will we keep warmer
I'm banking on a general election
long live Sir Keir Starmer.

Very sad news that our Queen has died. We are a country in mourning. Our thoughts are with her family.

Satire in art has a long tradition, e.g. the illustrations of Aesop's Fables. Please be free and give both animals a name, saying and answering.

For I, Boris Johnson, will deliver. And I will take care of all who felt left behind. Glad tidings indeed.
Self-portrait (on New Year's Eve) of a Remainer.
Billions want to come to the UK. So, stop the boats! These illegal incomers want to take your job, your second home and one of your cars (at least) and, God forbid, take your daughters from you. They will invade our NHS and their foreign offspring will fill our schools too. Do not listen to Labour, the reds, the trade unions and the churches. Don't read the papers of the liberals and the left - these are loony humanitarian idealists. Beware! Stop the boats, get things done, and off to Rwanda with them!
Established in 1964 and running a regular programme of satire since 1976, this city-centre theatre stages late-night cabaret performances in the classic mould.
Yes, I got my trophy photo! Used a telephoto lens (Leitz Elmar 4/135 at F22). And the animals were kind enough to keep still. Just three of them. And I had to share them with sixty other photographers. It is so hard to find nature untouched by civilisation! This year Kenya, next year Antarctica. We have done already Patagonia. Difficult to find pristine nature. Leica M Mono.
... when dealing with dodgy donors, giving lucrative business contracts to friends, attending parties he should not and, importantly, when making promises on camera or even mentioning the word 'truth'.
And why not? Protecting in the public space his soft beauty (owned by his wife) from the inquisitive and predatory stare of lusty women. Keeping his wife's honour intact by interacting with society only in the format of cellular withdrawal. Otherwise staying at home. It's a woman's world. Gosh, I almost like it!

This Magpie treated us to some lovely singing and was not at all worried that we hung around taking photos of it. It is not yet Magpie swooping season where they become very protective and agressive. Though being in the Treasury Gardens, perhaps they are used to all the tooing and froing of people.
The decision by the Premier Dan Andrews to cancel the 2026 Commonwealth Games has really set the media going with huge amount of commentary and satire!

Edited book cover, Whale by Cheon Myeong-Kwan.
It follows the lives of three mythical characters: an extremely ambitious woman who has been chasing an indescribable thrill ever since she first saw a whale crest in the ocean; her mute daughter, who communicates with elephants; and a one-eyed woman who controls honeybees with a whistle.

The one who is gone now. Rejoice! The one who brought division and chaos. The one who soiled everything he touched. The one who lied from the first to the last day. The one who left behind a mess. Time to clean up.

The House combines features of a museum and an art gallery. The city of Gabrovo is also known as an international capital of humour and satire.
Near the House are placed some sculptures. Among them are: the greatest comedian Charlie Chaplin and the inseparable couple of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza.
Entre satire esthétique et image de mode, l’artiste britannique Steph Wilson compose sa série d’autoportraits Self (WIP), un work in progress qui lui permet de questionner son rapport au médium photographique, mais aussi d’appréhender différemment sa pratique commande.

Between aesthetic satire and fashion imagery, British artist composes her self-portrait series Self (WIP), a work in progress that allows her to question her relationship with the photographic medium, but also to approach her commissioned practice differently.

People will promise anything to get your vote it seems. Latest is they will build a moon wall to separate light and dark sides of the moon. Trouble is the dividing line keeps moving through the month and no one up there will cough up the money to pay for it.
Apart from a crop and slight rotation and removing some streaking stars (can't handhold 300 mm at 1/3rd of second) no Photoshop! Cloud and half moon seen in our capital city, Wellington.Apologies if you like the guy.
