Great party as always, girls get wet as always.

Interiors of the Stephansdom, Vienna's cathedral and one of the tallest churches in the world. It was largely initiated by Duke Rudolf IV (1339–1365) and stands on the ruins of two earlier churches, the first a parish church consecrated in 1147. The most important religious building in Vienna, St. Stephen's Cathedral has borne witness to many important events in Habsburg and Austrian history and has, with its multi-coloured tile roof, become one of the city's most recognizable symbols

This is another image of the pink poppy from my garden (see flic.kr/p/2p9S7vh for a mono rendition of the same flower).

It’s a ‘plain’ colour edit using the usual tools in Capture One and Affinity, with a bit of noise removal using Topaz DeNoise AI.

The main creative challenge was how to crop it. I wanted to avoid the square crop all-inclusive approach. I thought of using an even thinner aspect but that didn’t work so well as you lost the concentric circles of the ring of anthers… sigh. I also rotated in to get some balance in the petals - a problem in itself. Finally, I tried flipping it horizontally and thought it worked for a while, Then I came back to it today and preferred it unflipped. Time to move on…

Thanks for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy Flower Friday and 100x :)

I really had fun with this series of tulip shots, and no need for Photoshop...except to lightly sharpen

Inside the beautiful & tranquil tomb of Salim Chishti an elderly custodian maintain the ancient & elaborate praying halls where once the Mughl's bowed their heads to the almighty.

A place to be recluse, withdrawn.....

Lost, forgotten somewhere in southern Utah, rests a little granary tucked into a large alcove.

At Saturday 2 PM SLT there will be an event at Sanctum. Maya was so kind to allow me to see the very pretty venue.

Sunlight hitting the opposing canyon wall reflects back into this massive alcove creating a wonderful glow. Peter Böhringer climbed this huge debris pile inside the alcove to help give some sense of scale here.

If you want to visit places like this that are only accessed via watercraft, you might consider signing up for a spot on a 2019 Lake Powell photo tour (assuming one is offered next year).

Not sure why it took me so long to visit Falls Creek Falls. After seeing it presented in countless images it truly lived up to his reputation as one of the most impressive and thunderous waterfalls in the Northwest. This scene is a bit less traveled than the more typical shots from the viewing platform. The trip was also my first springtime shoot this year and I can't convey how truly great it felt to back out in the lowland forests as they burst into their prime.

ISO500px has posted an article I wrote covering tips for shooting waterfalls such as this. Give it a read if you have the spare time!

This is the other side of the screen I showed you in my first upload today. The light is more subdued because the direct sunlight which we saw in my previous photograph was almost completely shaded from this beautiful wall. Now this is a place to lift your spirits!

I mentioned today that I believe the influence of Muslim architecture is present here. The screen in particular is quite a move away from the typical Gothic revival arches of the Victoria era. This is no Alhambra, but you get a similar sense of sacredness of space. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alhambra

I wish we could recapture the vision that once existed in Andalusia, when under Moorish rule, Muslims, Jews and Christians created a beautiful expression of a tolerant world. It began in 750 and ended in 1492. While Christopher Columbus was claiming the Americas for the Spanish crown, Jews and the Moors were being driven out of Spain by the Catholics from the north.

This beautiful and tragic story is magnificently told by historian Maria Rosa Menocal in her book aptly named, "The Ornament of the World: How Muslims, Jews, and Christians Created a Culture of Tolerance in Medieval Spain" (Back Bay Books, 2002).

This exciting book has now been made into a superb film. theornamentoftheworld.com/

The Perturbed Sanctum

somewhere, within.

Tucked away amidst the stunning mountains of Bhutan, there's a peaceful monastery that's as serene as it gets. It's like a picture-perfect escape where you can unwind and soak in the beauty of nature.

Perched high up on the hills, this monastery is a sight to behold with its traditional Bhutanese architecture, adorned with colorful prayer flags fluttering in the breeze. It's a place where you can take a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and just be in the moment.

When you're there, you'll hear the soothing chants of monks echoing in the air, adding to the tranquil atmosphere. And as you take in the fresh mountain air and the breathtaking views all around, you'll feel a sense of peace wash over you.

People have been visiting this monastery for generations, drawn by its spiritual aura and the sheer beauty of its surroundings. Whether you're seeking some quiet time for reflection or just want to immerse yourself in nature's beauty, a visit to this monastery is sure to leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

Felt a surreal quality to this old garden gate in a neighbor's yard. I'm drawn to boundary lines, fences, any sort of demarcation. What caught my eye here was the usual idyllic white pickets were painted dark. As we approach summer solstice, vegetation is approaching maximum extent and coverage. What I love about this is the private spaces that develop in areas that are completely wide open during fall and winter. Here the garden gate symbolizes a portal to whatever lies beyond. Scenes like this force the imagination to take an active role. The raw image was full of verdant greens, a bit to inviting to convey my message. I thought a vintage processing techniques provided a rather haunting quality, more in keeping with how I felt standing here looking in.
