The Church of San Zaccaria is a former monastic church in the southwest of Venice's Sestiere Castello. It "was built between 1458 and 1515. Antonio Gambello was the original architect, who started the building in the Gothic style, but the upper part of the facade with its arched windows and its columns, and the upper parts of the interior were completed by Mauro Codussi in early Renaissance style many years later. The facade is a harmonious Venetian mixture of late-Gothic and Renaissance styles." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Zaccaria,_Venice

I would like to take the opportunity to thank our friend Brian Jones for spending lots of time with us traveling around the City of San Diego.
Brian is an excellent photographer. Please check his album at the link below, his photographs are a work of art.
Thank you again Brian for taking time off your daily schedule to spend time with us. It was a pleasure getting to know you.
I am used to long stares focused on my comings and goings on my travels as I am a wanderer of unbeaten trials so I often feel the eyes of the locals trying to figure out why I am traipsing through their village or trying to see whom I resemble in the village as I am most likely visiting family. Invariably curiosity gets the better of the locals and they casually wander by where I am setting up a shot or taking in the sights as they try to figure out where we are from or occasionally the truly brave come right up and ask us this question.
This shot captures almost high noon in the downtown core of San Severino Lucano a small little village just outside the Northern part of the Pollino park and a village rarely troubled by the outside world. I felt a particular amount of attention on my back as I walked around town with my backpack and what looks like a rifle case (tripod case) in my hand , later I found out this is a preferred area for Calabrian mafia for body disposal so the extra attention may have been a case of mistaken identity.
An ancient agricultural village that was founded in the 15th century seems like a very old place but here in Basilicata this is a fairly new development, it was likely founded by local monks that were given the lands from the San Severino family. The Village was actually named Casale di San Severino until the 19th century reinventing itself during unification, the area has little to offer in prosperous industry other than banditry (thankfully for nature lovers) so it suffered a huge population decline during the early 20th century with mass migration to North and South America.

Located in San Diego California’s Balboa Park which itself is enormous is the The House of Hospitality as seen in this image. Balboa Park’s 1200 acres dwarfs New York City’s Central Park and Chicago Millennium Park combined. The House of Hospitality constructed as a temporary building for the Panama-California Exposition in 1915 under the supervision of Exposition architect Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue as the Foreign Arts Building. As the rest of the Exposition it was never meant to be standing for long term, it was repurposed in 1935 as the House of Hospitality for the California Pacific Exposition when it was remodeled by Richard Requa. In the 1990’s the original was torn down because of severe structural integrity issues. The city of San Diego & the Balboa Park Conservancy hired the firm of Heritage Architecture and Planning to rebuild it, using original plans & drawings but adding modern amenities such as HVAC and fire sprinklers. They were successful and the design very true to Richard Requa’s 1935 Spanish Revival refresh. - [x] #developportdev @gothamtomato @developphotonewsletter @omsystem.cameras#excellent_america #omsystem @bheventspace @bhphoto @adorama @tamracphoto @tiffencompany #usaprimeshot #tamractales @mpbcom @kehcamera @visitcalifornia @visitsandiego @balboapark #omd #fourthirds
