Goddess Lakshmi appeared at the time of Samudra Manthan between the Dev and Asur. She is goddess of wealth. Lord Ganesh is the god of Riddhi & Siddhi. He is worshipped before all the gods. Goddess Saraswati is the goddess of Vidya (Knowledge & Education). All these murties are worshipped together to get wealth, Riddhi, Siddhi and vidya.

The Sea of King Parakramabahu originally consisted of five large reservoirs which relieved the pressure on the main dam. The first reservoir Thopa Vewa already existed in King Parakramabahu’s time having been built in 386 AD. The king had the other large reservoirs included and the entire system expanded.
Polonnaruwa was the second capital of Sri Lanka after the destruction of Anuradhapura in 993 AD. It comprises, besides the Brahmanic monuments built by the Cholas, the monumental ruins of the fabulous garden-city created by Parakramabahu I in the 12th century. The Ancient City of Polonnaruwa remains one of the best planned archaeological relic cities in the country and has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city is currently undergoing a major development project known as the Awakening of Polonnaruwa.
The owner or part-owner of a large net set in the sea, outside a resort on Kavalam's Samudra Beach. Tourists were able to watch as hundreds of metres of rope were used to drag the net far out into the Arabian Sea. Both ends were then hauled in with the help of bystanders.
Chandra Taal or Lake of the Moon is a lake in the Spiti part of Lahaul & Spiti valley in Himachal Pradesh near the high altitude Kunzam Pass.It is situated at an altitude of 14100 feet above sea level. It gets its name from its crescent shape. It is situated on Samudra Tapu Plateau overlooking the Chandra River. There is no visible source of the lake but there is an outlet and the source is probably underground.
I could have probably got better shots of the lake if I had gone down to its shore. However we had reached the lake after a tiring journey of about 6 hours over very bad roads and we had to walk for about half a kilometer from where we had parked our vehicle to reach this spot.It might not sound much but try walking uphill at an altitude of 14000 feet and you will understand why i satisfied myself with these shots instead of going down to the lake.:-)
The mausoleum was built on the grave of Saint Ma-Hajiani in the year 1908 as a token of devotion and reverence to glorify her pious name and sacred memory by Haji Ismail Hasham, ship-owner and pioneer of Indian shipping, who died on 20th september 1912 and was burried according to his last wishes in the west side grave of this tomb.
The Oil Rig at a distance somehow looked like a huge Tortoise, as in the Kurma Avatar of Lord Vishnu. It somehow symbolized the current situation, where the Devas (Gods) & Asuras(Demons) churned the ocean jointly for "Amrut," the elixir for immortality. What came out instead was "Halahal," the deadly poison.
Mankind is in a huge "Samudra Manthan," as written in the holy books. The churning of the ocean is on. We need a Lord Shiva like Herculean task to first quell the "Halahal" that is around & find the Elixir.
May the ?Samudra Manthan" discover a Potion soon.
About 17 km north of Cha-Am you find the small town of Puek Tian, directly at the Gulf of Thailand. In honor of the most famous royal poet of Thailand, Phu Sunthon this water statue park was built.
According to the epic poem Phra Aphai Mani, Phisuea Samut is a sea ogress who lived in a cave beneath the sea. One day, Phra Aphai Mani, a prince from the Rattana Kingdom, was sent to study abroad by his father, with the intention of having him ascend to the throne after his passing. Aphai is a master of playing a magical flute called Pi , which had the power to put people to sleep or even kill them. Nang Phisuea Samudra was captivated by the beautiful music of the flute and decided to rise from the sea to find its source. When she finally met Aphai, she instantly fell in love with him and began plotting to marry him. While Aphai's companions were lulled to sleep by the sound of his flute, Phisuea Samudra disguised herself as a beautiful woman to be with him. Aphai knew all along that she was an ogress in disguise, but he was unable to escape. Aphai and Phisuea lived together and had a son named Sin Samudra. For eight years, Sin was kept isolated from the world until one day, Aphai revealed the truth about his mother to him and they devised a plan to escape. Aphai tricked Phisuea Samudra into going to meditate on a distant island and fasting for three days.
When Phisuea realized she had been deceived, she became agitated and lost her beauty, transforming back into an ogress. She wandered along the beach searching for her beloved. The story ends with Aphai managing to escape and arriving on a shore, where he played his magic flute, breaking Phisuea Samudra's heart and killing her.
We saw this version at Puek Tian Beach on our drive down from Bangkok to Phuket earlier in the summer. We've seen another on Koh Samet (see comments)

Parakrama Samudra (or King Parakrama's sea or the Sea of King Parakrama) is a shallow reservoir, consisting of three separate reservoirs connected by narrow channels in Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka.
Early in the morning, looking out over Parakrama Samudra Reservoir, in Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka, I would often observe incoming black-headed ibis (threskiornis melanocephalus). This bird was kind enough to fly in my general direction. More at "Colin Pacitti Wildlife Photography & Fishing Travels" - www.colin-pacitti.com.
This black-headed ibis (threskiornis melanocephalus) was heading away from Parakrama Samudra Reservoir, in Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka and passed directly overhead. I was used to seeing white plumage on a standing bird - so it was interesting to see the breeding-season patches of colour on the underwings. the sacred mountain lake
The Gosaikunda area has been delineated as a religious site. Hindu mythology attributes Gosaikunda as the abode of the Hindu deities Shiva and Gauri. The Hindu scriptures Bhagavata Purana, Vishnu Purana and the epics Ramayana and Mahabharata refer to Samudra manthan, which is directly related to the origin of Gosaikunda. Its waters are considered holy and of particular significance during the Gangadashahara and the Janai Purnima festivals when thousands of pilgrims from Nepal and India visit the area. Gosaikunda is believed to have been created by Lord Shiva when he thrust his Trishul (holy Trident) into a mountain to extract water so that he could cool his stinging throat after he had swallowed poison.[4]In Raksha Bandhan Hindu people from all over the South Asia came to celebrate the fair(Mela).

Parijat Flowers (Nyctanthes arbor-tristis) is native to Indo-China, Himalaya and Indonesia. It grows in dry deciduous forests and hillsides.
"The parijata is a divine tree featured in Hindu mythology. The Mahabharata and the Puranas describe the parijata tree, as one of five trees, to have emerged during the legend of the Samudra Manthana. Krishna is described to have battled with Indra to uproot the parijata from his capital of Amaravati and plant it in his own city of Dvaraka. In regional tradition, Satyabhama grew aggrieved when Krishna offered his chief consort Rukmini a parijata flower. "

We went from Haputale to Ella by train; well, just two carriages of 3rd class, fully packed - luckily enough, we managed to get a place right at one of the carriage's entrance (no door there) - it was another train ride with a view and fresh air!

Next to Kura Kura beach is Samudra beach. Big rock, just the same kind of Belitong's rock, are beautifully spreading all along the beach. Pretty happy with my light traveling to Singkawang. Fujifilm X are truly fun and really have a soul. I must admit that there is a color cast while combining the X-trans sensor with Singhray grad ND reverse but still produce beautiful colors.
